Jye Caldwell?
I am always a sucker for kids who grew up supporting the club. Anyone seen this guy or got any thoughts about what number he might go in the draft?

Re: Jye Caldwell?
Good player and kid. Country boy too so honest and no BS. We could do much worse, but I think we would take King, Smith, Rankine or Luco before him...with pick 4.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Jye Caldwell?
Never seen him play so no idea what he's like.
I would assume from what I have read that he would not be on the radar at #4 but could be available (and may be a target) if we double down with PA or Adelaide for #4.
Say we swap #4 & #36 for PA for #5 & #15 we might get him at #15 if we are lucky.

Re: Jye Caldwell?
You're probably right, being around 18 YO he's watched more wins than losses and plenty of top 4 finishes.

Re: Jye Caldwell?
If we refuse to trade out pick 4 take him it would be a big mistake.
Now if were to trade for pick 8 and 15 he would almost certainly be available at 8 and maybe at 15.
If we retain pick 4 we need to get one of the best 6 players with it.

Re: Jye Caldwell?
Caldwell looks pretty good, both sides, may even have more upside than Smith. Smith is very dedicated, no doubt a 200 game player, how much more can he improve? Subject to injury clearance, I think Caldwell is very close to Smith, even at pick 4 if we want a mid.

Re: Jye Caldwell?
This best 6 players stuff is a load of hogwash for we all know that 3 to 6 players inside this top 6 will NOT be considered to be top 6 down the track
Some argue that Caldwell has all the traits to be a star however a couple of consecutive injuries this year has put a query mark over his durability
Some nice Caldwell highlights here posted on BF - i would not be disappointed if we used 4 on him - we need class mids badly

Tomorrow's Heroes: Draft's most dedicated looms as top-10 pick - http://m.afl.com.au/news/2018-11-14/tom ... iley-smith
Would prefer Smith over anyone, but King is the word apparantly.

Re: Jye Caldwell?
I played footy with his old man Quack & his uncle Ross both really good blokes so he comes from a good family. Ross was a really good player & Quack was pretty handy & a big saints fan hence why Jye is a saints fan too. I suppose it will all come down to how we use our pick 4 I don't think we would use that Pick for Jye but if we trade picks who knows.

Looks very good. Wish we had more picks in the top 10.

He’s the bolster for mine. Really good decision making.
Lot of phantom drafters have him going around 7.
I wonder if all this talk of trading the pick down centres on getting Calder 5 or 8 and having the extra pick then. I could live with that

Re: Jye Caldwell?
Some Bulldogs supporter on BF said that they are zoning in on Caldwell
If we take Smith and Doggies take Caldwell could this be Billings/Bontempelli all over again?

Yes. Smith I think will be ordinary, Caldwell a gun. Luckily I doubt we take Smith. Will be Max King or Rozee IMO.

Re: Jye Caldwell?
Ignoring their 2016 cup (good on 'em for snatching one, of course)...the Bulldogs are the most hapless club ever, I wouldn't worry about what they're up to. I think Bont over Billings and Templeton's 1978 bag are about the only things they've got over us.

Re: Jye Caldwell?
Don't want a guy with hammy concerns already. Yes king had an acl ssue but that was due to a collision which is a part of footy. Pass on Caldwell as well as Smith.
Smith looks.like a kid who will play 200 games based purely on drive and effort but I think others will catch him when they start weighing food, doing extra training etc. Thats not a knock on him but I don't see anything outstanding yet. Lots of very good things but nothing jaw dropping.
