Re: Latest on pick 4
Assuming we are taking Max King @ #4
#6 & #24 for #4 would be an interesting one with GC.
This would allow GC to take 3 X SA talent at 2, 3 & 4 with hope they play and are retained together.
Again if we want Max King @ #4 a trade with PA for #4 in exchange for #5 + another bonus pick knowing PA would take the remaining SA prospect.
Dropping down to Adelaide pick #8 doesn't guarantee you the player you want.
Will be interested in live trading draft night, I think this is a great initiative.

Re: Latest on pick 4
If we choose Max King at pick 4, it means we will be missing out yet again on an opportunity to draft a genuine midfielder with elite skills.
We have enough marking forwards, what we really lack and desperately need are midfielders who can deliver the ball accurately to them - more quality inside 50's.
Other teams also recruit and poach the Dangerfields, Treloars, etc.. - they don't just rely on the draft -- while we recruit what's cast aside, what's left over -- the Freemans, Hanneburys, Kents, odds and ends .. etc ..
These other teams leave no stone unturned in order to sustain their success.
No wonder we're where we're at.
We need to nail this draft - and go after what our team needs.

My preference depending whose available is Welsh, Rankine, Smith...….

I hope we are able to do a trade that allows us to pick smith with our first and king with our second (first rounder)

I think I saw somewhere that it was 5 minutes but, for the life of me, I can't find it anywhere.st.byron wrote: ↑Tue 06 Nov 2018 8:59pm Does anyone know how the live pick trading will work? If someone takes player X at pick 3 and Port for example, then want offer us 5 and 15, how much time do we have to say yay or nay? I guess our guys just have to plan for every contingency and decide in advance how to respond.

Re: Latest on pick 4
Wishful thinking IMO Max King will go in the top 4 picks. Smith might slip to 6 or 7 but there is no way we get King & Smith even if we deal with Port. If it happens I will be in 7th heaven but haven't put the Champagne on ice just yet

Re: Latest on pick 4
I would love that too, but I have a gut feeling that Pick 4 is just one pick too late to generate much action as I would tend to think that Lucky and Rankine will both go top 3, and that Rozee will not have either SA club paying overs for him, and in particular PA who will probably be happy to gamble that he will be their at 5.
That places the Blues and/or the Suns in box seats to extract value if they want to not go for maximum quality.
I cannot see the Crows having the picks to trade to us that would gain us Max and Smith.
Best case scenario may well be swapping with PA so we get Smith and a extra good pick, but a pick that would be way to late to land Max. Might gain his brother though.

Re: Latest on pick 4
whilst a very enjoyable drop of sunshine in a dismally wet and grey season, that comeback against the suns has come at quite a cost.

Good on the boy, there are plenty of could have been who would have been great players with that attitude.skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 08 Nov 2018 8:58pmGeeez what an article.ausfatcat wrote: ↑Thu 08 Nov 2018 8:18pm My preference depending whose available is Welsh, Rankine, Smith...….

I wonder how recruiters view this?
They obviously see a safe bet who will be a solid AFL player, but do they see a big upside if he is already training and disciplined to such high standards?
Does it raise or lower his expected draft position?
Only seen his highlights and read about him, have never seen him live.

That kid is going to be elite.
Thing is, whatever list he ends up on, will he drag up it with him, or will they pull him back?

Re: Latest on pick 4
You have hit the nail on the head. This can be a real trap. Elite trainer and preparer at under age level (huge advantage) levels out once in the AFL sytem. Give me a country kid who has played seniors at 15, has a few green cans with his mates on Saturuday night after the game and has killed them at TAC Cup / National Champs.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 09 Nov 2018 9:53amGood on the boy, there are plenty of could have been who would have been great players with that attitude.skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 08 Nov 2018 8:58pmGeeez what an article.ausfatcat wrote: ↑Thu 08 Nov 2018 8:18pm My preference depending whose available is Welsh, Rankine, Smith...….
