Daniel Menzel
Surely this bloke is worth a go? Lacks a bit of forward pressure but has averaged 2 goals a game in the last few seasons. Really surprised Geelong delisted him. We seemed interested prior to trade week and have apparently our interest has cooled? Thoughts?

Re: Daniel Menzel
So we don't have to give up anything but what do we have to pay him? We have a war chest apparently that we have to spend or we lose it so what the hell give him a 1 year contract with incentives he's gotta be better than Lonie that has just signed a 2 year contract IMOTom_Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 24 Oct 2018 8:21pm Surely this bloke is worth a go? Re: Daniel Menzel
Did not want him as a DFA or a trade, but wouldn’t be upset if we put him on rookie list on a one year deal.

Re: Daniel Menzel
MIght as well take him.
Mind you, all it would take is some well-advertised interest from other clubs and we'll probably be spooked into taking him with our first pick.

Re: Daniel Menzel
To be fair, given we are the worst team around goal in the league, I'd be signing him up.
Honestly, he and Hartung would be in our best 22.

Re: Daniel Menzel
Would rather take Neade from PA over Menzel.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Did not want him as a trade, did not want to give up anything for him.
Did not want him as a FA where he might get tenure.
Happy if we gave him a one year rookie contract as there is little exposure.
Happy to pass.

Re: Daniel Menzel
Getting a player like Menzel would only keep a youngster like Josh Battle out of the team and rob him of valuable experience.

Re: Daniel Menzel
Out of all the delisted players I would look at Dean Towers from Swans ,can play tall and should have got more games at the swans

We have ruled ourselves out apparently.

Delisted Geelong small forward Daniel Menzel is on the radar of up to five AFL clubs, according to his agent.
Menzel's manager Adam Ramanauskas says there remains interest in the goalsneak after reports cellar-dwellers Carlton, Brisbane and St Kilda have ruled themselves out as potential suitors.

Re: Daniel Menzel
Battle will play the position Menzel plays. Menzel is a gun, Battle will be and his defensive side is far more superior.

Re: Daniel Menzel
I don't see what the upside is. We have young blokes that need games if he's getting a game someone misses out.
He may help win a couple of games but he's not long term.

Re: Daniel Menzel
If the club is keen to get games into the young forwards then there isn't really a spot for someone like Menzel. Assuming they want McCartin, Battle, Membrey, Bruce and Marshall to be the forward option in a couple of years then it'd be a waste to give games to him.
