Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
Ignore that Hickey is gone, if Billy is to go ok against opposition teams he needs to really improve his endurance so that he can move around the ground better and more quickly so that he can impact more contests.
Big Ben, was yes older this year but a big reason why he had one of his better seasons this year was that he worked very hard on his running over the pre-season.
Ditto for Max who did likewise.
Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out. The opportunity is there. Do you want it bad enough?

Re: Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
Hmm....the skill set is not great. Effort is one thing, but a lack of agility, skill, and endurance is quite bit to overcome, even with the best intentions

Re: Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
This is a guy who openly tells his team mates (one of whom has relayed this conversation to my wife) that he struggles to get motivated, looks for shortcuts at training, and would prefer to be playing suburban footy with his mates rather than AFL.
On attitude alone he should be delisted. Absolute spud.
Our only hope next year is development from Pierce and Marshall and perhaps a mature age ruckman in the draft.

Plus he is concussion prone - Not good for a ruckman.Legendary wrote: ↑Thu 18 Oct 2018 9:24pm This is a guy who openly tells his team mates (one of whom has relayed this conversation to my wife) that he struggles to get motivated, looks for shortcuts at training, and would prefer to be playing suburban footy with his mates rather than AFL.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Re: Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
I honestly think Pearce will become a very good ruck. Hasn't even played 10 games yet and is hitting the right age.
Lethlean should get on the front foot and target Peter Wright from the Suns. Even if its a 2-3 year project.

To many computer games for him he needs a full pre season on the footy field not a full preseason doing over watch,I hope he sees the light!

Have you got the above statement on repeat? Posted that a couple of weeks ago. I would be interested to know (if it was indeed said), in what context?Legendary wrote: ↑Thu 18 Oct 2018 9:24pm This is a guy who openly tells his team mates (one of whom has relayed this conversation to my wife) that he struggles to get motivated, looks for shortcuts at training, and would prefer to be playing suburban footy with his mates rather than AFL.

Re: Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
Pretty common knowledge that his attitude is not up to the standard of an AFL footballer.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....
Re: Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
That stuff about Billy is blatantly wrong. Makes me cringe to think some may believe that. Billy may not be blessed with skill but as for attitude and motivation you could not be further from the truth.Legendary wrote: ↑Thu 18 Oct 2018 9:24pm This is a guy who openly tells his team mates (one of whom has relayed this conversation to my wife) that he struggles to get motivated, looks for shortcuts at training, and would prefer to be playing suburban footy with his mates rather than AFL.

So should I and every other fan get listed because we'll try our guts out and give our all?
Could be an even worse team than the one we fielded this year...

I don’t think endurance is Billy’s biggest problem.

Re: Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
Longer is last in the entire league for speed, agility, and skill. Name a player who is slower, less agile, and less skilful. I'm serious here.

Re: Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
One of the worse judges of the flight of a ball I've seen for a senior player- can't seem to get close to marking contests...maybe it's just slow leg speed.

Re: Ok Billy, time to pull your finger out
If Billy hasn’t learnt to take a mark by now I don’t think it’s going to happen. He should be fourth in line behind Pierce, Marshall and that new rookie bloke. The comparisons to McEvoy are so far off, McEvoy has always been a fantastic mark, one of the best contested markers in the game. Billy has zero chance of being this.
