Don’t know about the saints but I can tell you GWS have an internal junior who visits GWS supporters social media on a daily basis and provides a weekly summary to senior management.

I also know of a similar role at Brisbane Lions in early 2010 era and assume it is still current.

I’d think all clubs would monitor social media and fan sites to gauge the feel of their constituents.

Freo have massively improved their best 22 in the trade period. They might take a little while to gel but a forward line of Hogan, Lobb and McCarthy is very dangerous. The midfield is lacking some depth but Fyfe is still one of the top few players in the league, the Hill brothers are very handy on the outside, Blakely is a bull who will keep getting better and Cerra and Brayshaw will be outstanding players. Injuries permitting I expect them to be a contender to make the 8

I think given their home ground advantage and the fact that they'll have Fyfe, Hogan, Walters, Sandilands, Hill x2, Lobb, Mundy and Wilson leading the way they should be winning at least 12 games for the year. Much of it depends on how quickly the likes of Cerra, Brayshaw, Blakely and Logue can start playing consistently good footy.

Yep. He always posted really positive stuff....except sometimes when he solely blamed the players for losses

Basically tony74 was echoing what the board and admin were thinking and discussing (they wanted the blowtorch on anyone except Richo and Finnis) and if tony74 is still employed after his posts then I think that should be enough evidence that he was just towing the party line. Cairnsman will log in shortly to say he is sad for me that I have wrongly misread things

If this tony guy worked at the club then he will be positive about things they are trying or wanted to do as a club this year. All sports club try remain positive and make it part of their culture. Even the Suns would do it right now.

no offence but social media is much much more than facebook/twitter/instagram/etc

i would be shocked if the club would NOT read and report back to hq about stuff on here, this is the biggest and longest running independent St.kilda fan forum around since the interwebs was dial up. they also would look at croc media's bigfooty and maybe a little off reddit and of course the facebooks, etc

an independent site like saintsationial is very important to organisations as its generally to the point, non pc, raw, etc but it gives you important data, it can be mined easily. do you think places like nicks magpies bulletin and punt road end are not used by the pies and richmond just as a general feel as to how the fans (generally the passionate ones who use these sites) feeling.

i agree that this place is more toxic since our missed premiership chances and this slow frustrating 7 year rebuild, but i still read this site at least a few times a week and there are generally 20+ people on here at all times, its not dead
