So are we trading for Flamin Amon?

67 for Amon would be ok.

Pretty good trade at the end of the day… If we want to take 4 players in the draft we now have

4, 36, 46 & 67

instead of

4, 28, 67 & 79

two hits in the 25 - 50 range is better than 28 & 79

Also if we do end up trading pick 4 down, we have a little more currency

4 & 46 for 8 & 13

Would give us 8, 13, 36 & 67 to draft

However if it's to get Amon we're idiots.
nope, it is madness in this draft that is very even from 8-25... at 28 we could have got someone we rank quite high.. probably in the teens

At 36 we will get scraps

My guess is that we are again drafting for needs and will take a ruck or some position and feel confident that the person we want will be there at 36... drafting for needs is madness

Every downgrade reduces the chance of getting elite....we are a club choc full of GOPs .....look at what Port do to get up the trade ladder, Hawthorn only trade for top end talent...they dont even bother with draft picks.

We keep imagining we can spin gold from straw.

Meanwhile we give contract extensions to anyone who attends all the training sessions.

I think we have Murray from the Flight of the Conchords in charge.

One further issue re picks 36 and 46 - this range of picks is getting into the pick stacking range for father son & academy selections. There are quite a few clubs in this category with multiple picks from say 30-50, so picks 36 & 46 are likely to come down several points to say 32 and 40

draft best available... trade for needs.

most draftees take 3-4 years anyway and needs can change rapidly

Drafting for needs has burnt many clubs

It's on the draft pick tracker page :(

28 out, 36, 46 in

I'm tempted if Adelaide gave 8 + 13 for our 4

Would end up with
8, 13, 36, 46, 67, 79 + Hennebery + Kent (- Hickey)

I'd take 8 and 13 over 4 I think, unless there was a certain player at 4 we really really wanted.

Who do we think we can pick up with 8 and 13? would they be as good as a Max King, Bailey Smith or Rozee Not sure why we gave up 28 for 36 and 46 unless from 25-50 they are all much the same.

We traded in Kent from Melbourne for pick 65 (90 points but probably worth 146 points given late picks move inward.
It was late pick swap but pick swaps have not ended.
Melbourne got pick 28 worth 677 points
We got picks 36 and 46 worth 502 and 331 points.
This does not look like a square up over the Kent deal.

It looks like our guys ha little confidence in using 28 wisely (It will slip into the low 30s on the night).
They have instead got two guesses hoping to get at least one right.

We're moving down 8 spots in the second round so we can use a third round pick on a player we want instead of using pick 97 and giving a rookie list calibre player a two-year deal. I really wouldn't be surprised if we sign a DFA instead of taking 79 to the draft.

Quite a few stockpiled point picks in front of that 46 too, so it may move up by virtue of evaporating picks.

Is it possible that Gold Coast (pick24), GWS (25), Sydney (26) or Bulldogs (27) might desperately need some extra points for a father/son or academy pick, and trade us their pick for our 36 and 46?
If so, the swap of 28 for 36+46 would buy us a clear up-grade.

Spot on. Some posters at Bigfooty have provided more informed explanations, but basically after father sons and Academy picks, 28 would slide but 36 & 46 will come down. Shrewd trade.

Nah, Ted actually played football and understands the intricacies of the game which helps alot. He uses common sense, not hysterical emotive claptrap. I do not live in a world of doom and gloom. Never will, never have.

Ted will be telling us mid season next year when we are struggling, that we are still a chance to make the 8. Either that or he'll change his nick and start all over again with the same sycophantic ramblings

He'll be telling us that we are being hysterical when fans call for Finnis, Lethlean, and Richo to stand down after we lose 6 in a row and he'll be saying we don't understand the intracies of the game. If the management and employees had as much emotional attachment to the footy club as some of the fans, they wouldn't be suggesting that it is claptrap when fans want accountability from the people who are in charge of this football club and it's survival

Common sense tells me we need a lot of luck to improve our ladder position in 2019. We failed again miserably in our quest for a gun player at the peak of their game. I hope Hannebery can make a difference, but I highly doubt it, and I have never been of the belief that 1 or 2 new players will make a huge difference.

This is correct a the majority of picks between
Pick 28 to 36 will be used for father son points therefore there will be a negligible effect of any on the downgrade and we get 46 also quite well
done by the recruiting team!

IF things stay as is after Richo is sacked we need to play 5 games a year in Tassie.

End of story.
