Ben Long to Essendon/Melbourne

The AFL website is reporting that Ben Long is attracting interest from both Melbourne and Essendon during this weeks trade discussions.

Long is rated elite for kicking efficiency and one percenters and is the type of player we can ill afford to lose.

I hope the powers at Linton Street rate him as highly as I and reject any approach which may be made.

Shiel wants to come to us - but the pressure is on not to nominate us
Shiel nominates Essendon for big money
Essendon show their hand looking for Long (Uncle/Nephew and all)
Trade is done - Shiel for Long and a future 4th Rounder
Essendon pay the bulk of Shiels contract - we pay the difference between what he was offered by us and what Essendon have contracted him for.
