Will be interesting to see if they bend us over on the pick (like they did with J Cripps)

Cripps could have walked to the PSD if he wanted, from memory, and threatened to do so...Hickey is contracted, so we won't get completely bent over. Late 2nd round will be most likely though

Whilst I agree that’s what he’s worth... would be disappointed if that’s what we get.

I'm hoping that we receive WC's compo pick they received for Lycett (end of 1st round). Suspect it'll be more like their 2nd rounder - something in the late 30's/early 40's

Interesting what we will get. Is there a fringe eagle player we might get in exchange. Pick 20 is overs for Hickey (be real it is) which means with agency/F&S picks Eagles 2nd round will blow out to 40+ which I think is unders

Our #1 and #2 are crap...why would we keep them? WC only picking him up for backup, Nic Nat and Vardy would be their #1 and #2, both injury prone.

The deal, which is expected to be lodged on Wednesday, will see the Saints receive No.39 in this year's NAB AFL Draft from the Eagles.

A swap of later picks is also expected to occur, with future selections likely to be involved.

We all know he’s not a super gun but neither was McEvoy when we traded him for a decent pic and player.

He’s a big man entering his prime having demonstrated one season of excellent form.

I wouldn’t expect to get a player like that for pick 39

For me, I have no qualms in trading Hickey but I think he should be worth more than pick #39. At that price I’d rather keep him

Worth pointing out we didn't totally hold the whip either...WC could have walked for Roughead at any stage. This trade may unleash others, if we held out for too long we could have received stuff all.

I agree with the move. We still have 3 decent rucks still with Marshall and Pearce to only get better. Pretty sure we will find another too. Hickey was treading water.

Now the ball is starting to roll. Pick 39 could be used on Hannebery. Lets see.

Agree, reckon 39 is fair for Hickey

Couldn't expect much better as Eagles could have gone for Roughead for free. Still keep our No. 1 ruck as well.
