Re: Hickey gone?
Hickey is the best ruckman on our list by far and I really hope we get something more than pick 40 in return if we trade him. I could live with it if we then traded pick 40 for Preuss but he seems destined for Melbourne for some unknown reason.
Seriously how can a team expect to be competitive with Longer, Pierce and Marshall as its ruck stocks? None of those guys would get a game in the ruck for 17 other clubs.

Re: Hickey gone?
I still say we hold out for the best pick possible. In this case around pick #20. Or their compensation pick at 22 or whatever it is.
We could use it for Chad Wingard. I like the sound of that.

Re: Hickey gone?
I think we can look forward to more development from Marshall next year, but imo he's a forward come ruckman not the other way around.
I could be wrong, he could turn into a gun ruck forward. Doubt he would ever be a hit out monster though.

I really hope the club doesn't stuff this up.

Lycett, a compo pick at the end of the first round?? - go pull the other one afl. Lucky to be an end of second round pick. WTF is going on??WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 09 Oct 2018 12:47pm Lycett is gone, to Port.
Released statement saying he's grateful to WCE
but excited to going to the club he supported since childhood.
WCE gets compo pick at end of first round.
This will strengthen the grab for Hickey.
WCE might give us their compo pick.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

would seem to be fair to compensate us with that pick for Hickey thenJacks Back wrote: ↑Tue 09 Oct 2018 9:25pmLycett, a compo pick at the end of the first round?? - go pull the other one afl. Re: Hickey gone?
I would play hard ball and not surrender our No.1 ruckman for anything less than their Pick 20 OR Pick 22. They'll have an issue with that because they're hoping to trade them both to Geelong for Kelly.
I'd rather keep Tom Hickey anyway and offload Billy.....
We got bent over in the Cripps deal, hope it doesn't happen here as well.

Re: Hickey gone?
According to an article in the paper WC will use 20 and 22 to satisfy Geelong for Kelly.

Re: Hickey gone?
Embarassing our Ruck Stocks. IMO only one that looks like a player is Marshall and that’s as a forward resting ruckman..
Longer, Hickey and Pierce all not up to being a good ruckman imo... disappointing

Re: Hickey gone?
Certainly he'd get a game as a forward who can support the main ruckman but not as a starting ruck.skeptic wrote: ↑Tue 09 Oct 2018 3:53pmMaybe Marshall wouldmad saint guy wrote: ↑Tue 09 Oct 2018 3:47pm Hickey is the best ruckman on our list by far and I really hope we get something more than pick 40 in return if we trade him. Re: Hickey gone?
I’d be happy to turn Tom into Hannebery and a young player off of West coasts list.
With the view that we can never have to many Jack’s at the Saints how about a swap of Hickey for Jack Petruccelle and 38.
Don’t know anything about Jack other than what google tells me but he is a Victorian who won the 20 metre sprint at the 2017 combine and went pick 38. Played his first 3 games this year and kicked 2 goals... and his names Jack!
38 could be used to get Hannebery.
If it’s not Jack, saints need to find someone on WC list where the come home factors stronger than playing in a grand final next year. That shouldn’t be a hard sell.
