For whatever concerns I have about how we’re run atm, Lethlean seems to be doing a decent job

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
He’s at least put us in the running for potentially some half-decent trades. His ability to get these across the line will be telling in just how good a job he’s doing currently. Not all mechanisms are in his control admittedly, but he’s talked the talk, now let’s see if he can walk.
IMO, he’ll need more than just the Hannebery trade.
Bad management is bad management

ST KILDA concedes it didn't know the full extent of prized recruit Dan Hannebery's struggles with his body when it traded for him.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
Unhappy that we didn't get him but only because he went to those turds. Not unhappy we keep pick 4 (just pray now we don't use it on anyone but the best pure midfielder in the draft)
Quite frankly, we would've done something stupid and paid with pick 4. Way overs. If The Injectors get him for their 1st and 2nd rounders this year and next; that will be about right. But faaarrrrk - $1.3m-ish is wow money. Like Chris Judd in his prime money. Shiel is a terrific player but that's a lot of your salary cap tied up in one guy. Who, whilst very good, is by no means a match winner.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - unlike Essendoom (and Norf), our entire club didn't give anyone a reason to come to us for 2019 and beyond and that is why I absolutely despise our CEO, Coach and playing group for the sh!t they turned out this year. And we won't be getting anyone until we show we've got something to offer over and above 4.5 wins.
Right now - there's no reason at all that a good player is coming to us by choice ... and we've seen how money alone is now completely and utterly irrelevant.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
They said exactly the same with Picks 7 and 8 which were meant to land us a huge free agent last year.... with millions to spend.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Tue 09 Oct 2018 1:58pm s*** happens. Had a crack.

Meant jack sh*t. Knowing our club, cos his name is jack, we'd probably try and pick him up.
We are a basketcase.

Where would it go? Who else is on the market with a high first round value?

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
I'm relieved. We would most likely have had to give up this year and next year's first rounders. Wouldn't it have been nice to go into this year's draft with our first pick at 55 and next year's draft wth our first pick at about 40? I think not. Good luck to GWS having to deal with that universally despised maggot, Adrian Dodoro

Didn't pick that but happy as I didn't want him for our first round pick. He is good but not that good. What will it cost the bombers i wonder

a) he’s been around for what, 6 months so exactly what did you want to him to achieve?
b) I doubt he was involved in the decision to cut Goddard and Freeman
c) there weren’t exactly a lot alternatives to the circus that became the Butters show so yeah I voted for them and it was s bad decision
And finally d) if you can’t have a discussion without unnecessarily insulting someone you’re a giant tool.
I am not happy with the Saints and have been heavily critical about our decisions of late... that doesn’t mean it’s all on Lethlean who is at least trying to turn things around

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
It could go anywhere, on another contracted player (Plan B), or be swapped on draft night!!!!!

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
Sorry everyone I got it wrong. Hopefully my bad information I received didn’t upset too many people.
Didn’t see that coming!
Hopefully the rest of the trade period can be good and have a successful draft.
Go saints.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
This trade period is already starting to have the smell about it as last season - all this big talk, declarations of being “aggressive,” but ultimately ends as a disappointment but the rose-tinted brigade lauds the club for giving it a red-hot go.
Lethlean and co. have been doing quite a bit of chest beating prior to this trade period, so it will take a lot more than just the Hannebery trade for this trade period to viewed as a success in my view.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
North Melbourne fans would be thinking the same as us. All the gun players want to go to top 8 clubs or those obviously on a strong upward trajectory. With the Shiel thing, I bet Devon Smith had a small hand in it.
