It's bad enough already dealing in Hannerbury on the decline and on big money for a likely second round selection who will breakdown before round six next year. You can bookmark it!
The only good thing about Richardson "coaching" next year, if this is how it's going to play out will be getting pick one or two in the draft. Tim Watson delivered early draft picks in 2000 which is how St.Kilda acquired one of the greatest players in the history of the game in Nick Riewoldt!
This is the only good that can come from having this laterally challenged mumbling, bumbling simpleton as coach. To trade this away for Dylan Shiel is ridiculous.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
i think Shiel is a gun, however history says he will select Hawthorn as his destination. Realistically no big name player has moved to a bottom 4 club , but plenty to higher clubs be that request a trade or free agency - Lynch, O'Meara, Trellor, Dangerfield, Franklin, Goddard, Preatia, Gunston, . Only ones which have moved free agency to lower clubs are guys looking to extend careers or more chance to play.
Sure if he picks us and could keep pick 4 great but realistically then if you believe phantom drafts we will pick King , who may be a gun, but will also mean we have around 6-7 tall forwards???? and Shiel the only skilful classy mid.

Gws would take their next years first round pick for him in a heart beatCURLY wrote: ↑Fri 05 Oct 2018 5:26pmNo chance Carlton get Shiel and Sam Walsh.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Fri 05 Oct 2018 4:19pm If he wants to play finals soon and get better than it
Is hawks. If he wants cash and finals in a few of years it blues. If he wants cash it's us.
Blues are inexperienced but that will change really soon and someone to help cripps will be a huge boost. Add Sam walsh to the mix and this time next years blues will have turned a big corner.
We will as well as the likely hood of Richo being there if we have another poor season is not good so that's a plus. But I think we are still a ways off playing finals. And if we trade a future first rounder I will lose it

I wonder if Hannebery is straight into the leadership group and has possible aspirations for captaincy or assistant coach down the track?Linton Lodger wrote: ↑Fri 05 Oct 2018 5:08pm I'm getting a sneaky feeling Carlton are out of it and its down to us and Hawthorn. Just a feeling, shared by Brad Johnson. Nonetheless I don't think he's made a decision, ITKs at Big Footy reporting that 3 of our players have met with Shiel again today.
Edit: Further mail, Hannebery was one of the 3 that met with him.

Choco Williams convinced he will make a call on his club this weekend.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
Excellent news, dodged a bullet there.
What A grader would want to come to St.Kilda with a ZZZZZZZZ grade coach?
Offered way WAY too much money...would have cost next years first rounder most likely, which is most likely pick one or two in the draft.
Is it any wonder Jack Steven wants out.
ST KILDA concedes it didn't know the full extent of prized recruit Dan Hannebery's struggles with his body when it traded for him.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
do we have a plan B if we don't get Shiel? seems unlikely we'll get him but would like to know if we've been dealing for anyone else i.e. Setterfield on the side? presumably there's money set aside for Shiel, where would it go?

Smith or Rankine ...
Looks like the pot of money waits for next years free agency. Not such a bad thing.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
Shiels has already selected Hawks, Setterfield has agreed in principal to go to Carlton, Hogan deal isnt going ahead Freo wont nor should give 2 first round picks for Hogan.
Wingard is sooooo overpriced hasnt been All Australian for 3 yrs, hasnt kicked over 30 goals a year since either, plus Port want 2 yep 2 first round picks.
The fact we have already told Geelong we arent interested in picks plus players for a bloke who will end his career at club who wont see a GF for 25 years+, is tragic. We have not guts no balls, we wouldnt trade our captain to get a Mitchell etc . We want players willing to be ground down into nags wearing the colours. If Steven's stays, he dies here.
I havent seen the person I heard was coming our way and I'm a bit disappointed.

Re: Monster deal for Dylan Shiel
The Shiel talk of a future first round pick wherever he goes doesn’t make sense unless it’s a pure salary dump.
Shiel is a RFA next year which means a compo pick for GWS if he leaves next year which will surely be a first rounder.
Why let him go now and not have his service next season for a future pick which equals what they get if he plays the 2019 season then leaves as a RFA.

The future first rounder would be one element with other pick or picks involved, whilst at the same time providing salary cap relief right now when he wants out and is going next year anyways!Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 06 Oct 2018 10:13pm The Shiel talk of a future first round pick wherever he goes doesn’t make sense unless it’s a pure salary dump.
