Wish they would also look at Anthony Miles, strong midfielder, tough and wins a lot of the ball.Liston Trophy winner,a bit hard to get in the side when you have Dusty,Cotchin,Prestia and Lambert

Re: Jacob Townsend
At least he is a straight kick for goal....although if he comes to us we should be able to remedy that by round 1!!
As spert has mentioned, he sustained a broken fibula and a syndesmosis injury in the last game of the VFL season.

Re: Jacob Townsend
No thank you. I can't see what he'd offer us. Just another B grader who only plays well when the rest of the team is on fire. A pointless addition if it happens.

Re: Jacob Townsend
Tend to agree. I'd much rather get games into Battle. Richmond ppl I know rave about Towna but I suspect whilst a good player; his reputation was enhanced playing in a functioning forwardline and in front of a gun midfield at the Tiggas.
Go you red, black & white warriors

Re: Jacob Townsend
Hard at it forward with an accurate kick but not prolific ball gatherer and was squeezed out by Higgins and Castagna types.

We can re-build them - we have the technology (well at least we have the duct tape).DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Mon 01 Oct 2018 7:20pm Stop getting broken players for Pete's sake. It stupid and it doesn't often work

Re: Jacob Townsend
The club wants to be a top 8 contender in 2020 and the plan is NOT to do a rebuild.... right?
So it makes sense to get players who have what it takes to impact games of football in 2020 and beyond. Yes he is a risk but so is an 18 year old. Most draftees take 2-3 years to impact games of football. Only a very select group like Stevenson, Rainer or Judd are exceptions and they all went top 10 in the draft (Gresh was brilliant from day dot but he too went in the top 20). We only have 1 high draft pick so I reckon we use that on a youngster and use most other picks to try and get guys like Townsend.
He's NOT an unknown quantity. An 18 year old kid who has not played with men is an unknown quantity. An 18 year generally takes years. Townsend got an impact injury so he just needs time for it to heal properly. We've seen Towsend as a valuable contributor and as mentioned in this thread, he's a dead eye dick. Tough as nails, can take a contested mark and knows how to stick a tackle
Get him

Re: Jacob Townsend
I’d rather get hold of Menadue, after all outside pace and skill is what we really need.
In saying that I can see Townsend developing into a Luke Gunston type, and who wouldn’t want one of those???

Re: Jacob Townsend
Been thinking. Not a bad pickup if it comes through dependent on what we give up. His wage wouldn't be too high.
Is the right age, can play, is hard at it and can kick goals. Doesn't get alot of the football as such, but is still a handy footballer that can impact games.
Might be more astute recruitment.

Simon is doing a good job and has brought in serious talent already. More to come. Fans should be happy we have a go getter changing things.
The list manager, pro scout manager and recruiters are part of this trade/draft period too.
