McGovern to Carlton probably increases our chances at Shiel.

So now we think an A grader isn’t needed.. we would rather keep the extra 150-200k ‘overs’ we would pay him in our unused salary cap...
This is why this club is a rabble, I’m sure some admin think like this

I reckon Lethlean is giving this a monster crack at the moment. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets it done.

Yeah true.

Did i hear right that we have offered 1.3 pa over 7 years? Thats a 9.1 mil deal and a little more than the "extra 150 - 200k overs" you have stated.
He would be a good get for us, but based on this year, there are plenty of better players than him. That said, none of the better ones are looking to move to Moorabbin.
I just hope we can hang on to our first draft pick, although cant see how unless we trade a good player or two out

Not sure he’s worth that tbh
He’s no Kelly or coniglio
We need class ball users with leg speed
Some class mids about at top this draft..

Has to be a pick under Essendon’s first and we have no-one that would command a pick that high. It’s inevitable that we trade pick 4 if we pick him up.

100%.

A Rankine or Smith could be anything according to the good judges and will be ready to go round one.
It would be good to build a warchest to have a crack at the two you have mentioned next year. Neither will cost us a draft pick, so its just cash. Front end a few contracts, lock up Gresham to use up the 105% cap
Happy to get Sheil, but not for our first pick

Channel 7 evening news reported the Saints have met with Shiel plus Hawthorn and Essendon. Saints and the Blues can pay him the most though.

Hawthorn preferred. Then Carlton.

No to Saints and Bombers. Sorry guys.

I heard it also on SEN (according to Tom Browne) - Shiel - GWS, Hawks or Blues. Bombers/Saints out.

Ok with me - cost too much for his value.

He’s quoting Tom Browne. It would be nice if he named the media source instead of pretending he is the source.

He wouldn’t do that, would he?

That’s weird.

I guess we're going to have to offer too much to virtually any top-shelf player when we're in the current position we're in. Who do you suggest we get instead?

Is it just me or does it feel like all other parties are just using us to either better their position or bump up a players value... and we'll end up with the scraps..

I don't really understand why you would go through this whole charade and then post in basically the same fashion as you did before… pumping up average players, posturing as an insider, lauding the club for doing little, the inane/inspirational quotes. It's all the stuff that pissed so many people off previously and starting a new U/N won't change that.

You must think people are pretty stupid.

We have to pay overs, there’s no way know an “A grade” player is going to choose us unless we do.
So front end a huge offer and throw it on the table and make bloody sure it’s too good to refuse.

Unless there is serious salary cap cheating or the players transferring are not well advised by managers that are rational economic beings all the transferees cannot go to just three clubs, Hawthorn, Dons and Carlton. Saints are not a bad destination club and we will snag a star that we want and wants us. Seriously what premium would you have to get to play under Bolton or Worsfold, who has to have a significant personality (pc euphemism) defect. Hawthorn are on the down and finishing 4th this year flattered them and it was a last fling by a few quickly aging players. Their Brownlow medallist will be relentlessly tagged in 2019. North are welcome to Gaff. He will go to them with demons and wont have Shuey and Yeo to take the heat off. And we and everyone else know what happens when he gets a tight tag now, don't we. Shiel will be a great acquisition.
