Who is Dean Kent?

Looking at the Melbourne forums it seems that the weakness with Kent was initially psychological as much as physical. Reading between the lines: consistency, professionalism, preparation etc., were initial problems earlier and then, as these things improved, injuries started to bite. He might be a test for our culture, and as much as Richo is knocked for gameplan, strategy etc., although there were question marks with on-field effort in parts of this season, I think we are not lacking in off field, fitness etc., Fingers crossed that Kent is mentally sorted and our culture is on the rise. I'm not fussed at the three years and I think of it as two with a cherry-on-top due to our unfortunate market power. I'm hopeful now. One query I've got is about the huge size of mid-fielders these days. Do you think that will continue?

Do you think maybe that the fact that these two nominated St Kilda right from the get go may have swayed others from chasing them - just a thunk!

I'm tipping their managers went around to all 18 clubs fishing for deals and no-one would consider stumping up for a cooked Hannebery and no other club would offer Kent 3 years in current form.

I don't think players are magically nominating a 16th placed St Kilda because of our imminent premiership chances.

From the highlights video looks a great acquisition. Strongly built, very fast and has great goal sense.

He has wants to spend time in centre, which is why he has chosen the saints. Looks a very exciting prospect. Miles ahead of Lonie.

Hopefully he does play well.
But it won't be under Richo.

Interestingly Dave Mission from 09-10 Saints managing all the elite performance (ie fitness) program at the Demons.

If he can’t get Kent right in more than 3 years, then I have some scepticism about Dean being a regular game player.

I wish him luck though if he’s coming to the saints.
