We are going to get him for nothing and he has a bit of zip about him.

I like his accuracy, 40 mt kicks and that he can kick at full tilt - we dont have too many that can do that at present
but as mentioned a highlight tape of 6 years of football can paint a very rosy picture - and first thing that struck me was the opposition sides in the package - not many top tier clubs over those 6 years
What is his defensive game like - we know AR holds back players he doesnt like due to their lack of defense
Will he replace a player on our list - yes - you dont get players like this without someone thinking you are better than current list.

Not convinced he was going to play finals in 2018 as he only had 5 games under his belt for the whole year and most likely only got called up due to the absence of Hogan and Garlett

No doubt that the Saints really need speedy mids with good disposal and some class to compliment the current list, Hence the interest in Gaff, Wingard etc.
But we have opened up more spots than that and need to fill them. I dont know much about Kent apart from the highlight reel but he looks quick and looks a nice kick for goal. With 60 games under his belt he is a better option than most of our delistings and is ready to go at 24 years old and he offers something we need.
If he is cheap, i would go for it. Not every player we add to the list needs to be a $1 mil plus superstar.

Very strange. Don't recall the name or remember seeing him play but that is one of the best highlights reel I have every seen

Sounds like he is not anyone's first choice but I think the best thing about him is he will be cheap. 3 years is a concern as is the injuries but if Weller and Lonie go he will be an adequate replacement for one of them. And he does look quick and we are in need of speed.

But can you really blame the supporters for being dubious? Sure, I'm all for optimism, but it's hard to feel the PMA with the current malaise the club is in. Let's not forget, our recruiting has been woeful in the last decade or so. If we do manage to have a good trade and draft period, I'll definitely be giving this guy the benefit of the doubt, however. Most of us do still do get behind the club, in buying a membership and showing up to the games throughout the season with full voice, regardless of how well the team travels. Contrary to your views, I actually think that under the circumstances, we have some of the most loyal, open-minded and open-hearted supporters in the game.

Nope

But I was just thinking of the similarities to our recruiters plight

If we find a gem - it is pure chance that it worked out;
But if they take the risk and it doesn't come off then they are at fault.

Dean Kent may not be much better that the forwards we have and at Melbourne he may not have got a chance in the midfield, but at St Kilda, he may run through the middle and do what Lonie could not do at AFL level, and what Mav could not do in the midfield.

He may be a star, he may not, but if he costs little and we have a chance to mix things up - then surely we have to take it.

I am not saying that the recruiters are blameless, I am not saying that he is our big fish - but surely if he wears the RW&B we need to give him a chance.
