Re: Who is Dean Kent?
If he is better than number 40 on our list at present, and costs little - absolutely!
Simple equation for drafting/trading now.
If you are better than what we have - you are of interest
I could not care anymore if you drink/smoke/whore about - just that for 3 hours each week you improve the Red, White and Black! I used to believe in the 'No Dickheads policy' but now - I do not care what you do in your private life as long as it does not get you arrested/suspended.

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Offered him three years....
That's why he wants to come over...Just had a kid.
Article implies he wants to play midfield. You can see how that opportunity might be difficult at Melbourne.
Could also consider this a big F U to Lonie.
Might I add...

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Pretty solid AFL ready player - not sure if he's going be elite, but he's pretty good from the 4-5 games i've seen him play. He's pretty well built and has a decent physical presence, doesn't seem to shirk the niggle. Couldn't say with any confidence how good his skills are, and he does have a bit of an injury history, but if fit, would be a good fit age/games profile wise and fingers crossed he could become a good player for us!

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Meh......63 games in 6 years. Average of 13 disposals, 2 tackles and 1 goal per game. Reads like, not meaning to be unkind, just another fringe player.
Had an excellent 2016 after which he was named in the first cut of 22 under 22. But apart from that year, has struggled to maintain a place in Melbourne’s lineup and they’re really not very impressive career stats.
Career has been dogged by injury. Hamstring surgery, back injuries and shoulder reco.
We’ve just delisted a whole crew of fringe players. Like a revolving door of mediocrity. Why isn’t he nominating Tigers, Cats, Dawks, Pies etc? Coz they wont take him.
Double meh......

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Little highlights package posted on BF has me feeling better about it.
Seems like a tough little nugget with pace to burn and a nice left foot, doesn’t mind a goal.
Upgrade on Weller.
Weller off to the Goldy it seems

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Same role as Lonie. Why would you take another small forward with an injury riddled career? We just set Minchington and Wright free. He has average stats and could be slated to replace a younger guy who’s just got to 50 games.
Like I said last post.....revolving door of mediocrity. Don’t care if we get him for sfa. What we don’t need are more average list cloggers who are cast offs from another club. Shakes head......

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
He tore us up a few times in the past, but otherwise I'm not sure why we would want someone who doesn't cut it at Melbourne FFS. I'd rather have Cam Pederson!

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Some of the highlights show Frawley still playing for the Demons, Carslile at Essendon and Gwilt still playing for us!!
We probably need his type in our forward line who can make a tackle stick but why am I feeling uninspired...

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
We already have [The Man of] Steele - why would we need Clark's younger brother Dean??

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Man... everytime I get a sense of the club’s direction, it’s just disappointment valley.
Three year deal to an injury prone fringe player that plays in a position that we have an abundance of similar types
It’s like watching the club lead itself down the gurgler

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Worth a shot. Internally, we must think he can add a bit if they’re offering him 3 years. More than happy to take the Melbourne intellectual property he comes with as well.
Appears to be a younger, more vibrant version of Weller. Good stuff.

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
3 years on very minimal coin would be my guess. Partner had a baby recently, wasn't going to get three years at the Dee's. Comes here and gets 3 years of good coin (compared to the real world)prwilkinson wrote: ↑Wed 26 Sep 2018 12:37pm Worth a shot. If we get him on the park we get an upgrade on Weller for less coin. Don't really see what the issue is.

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Can play. Is quick and has skills. Only 24 and ready made age.
Probably would have played in Melbourne's finals series if he didn't get injured in the last game. That tells you something.
A definite upgrade on players like Wright and Minchington. Would only cost a 4th rounder most likely plus very little cap space.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Who is Dean Kent?
Has played 11 games in two years.
Is two years older than Lonie, but is averaging less tackles goals and has major problems with injury and we'll give him a 3 year deal but not 2 to Lonie? Another coup.
I don't care if he's an upgrade on our 40th player, do you think that's how hawthorn go about rebuilding their list?
