Re: When Lonie met Buckley
So Buckley is spending this week worried about replacing Jarryd Blair in the Pies VFL side next season?
I call BS. This is a rumour spread by Lonie's manager.

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
Lonie appears to show more leadership and reads the play better than many of our players. He is also prepared to put his body on the line for the team
Another preseason to build some more and he will be better
I would favour keeping him over some others, ie Sinclair

Been on the Lonie band wagon since pre-season.resaintlee wrote: ↑Mon 24 Sep 2018 1:28pm Lonie appears to show more leadership and reads the play better than many of our players. He is also prepared to put his body on the line for the team

Yes my call on him was premature but he finished the season playing his best 4 or 5 career games in succession.
So we put 4 years into the guy and wait until he turns 22 and starts playing good footy then trade him out?
He has earned a new contract and we would be stupid not to give him two years.
Unlike a few on our list he can actually get the ball, and late in the season started kicking straight.
He has his faults and can be frustrating but is enthusiastic and has some ticker for a guy his size.
He's a good trainer, good attitude and clubman and cuts it up in the VFL when dropped.
His last few matches averaged 20 possies as small forward, kicked goals 4,2,2,2, laid tackles and had goal assists. What more does he have to do?
If he goes for a 3rd rounder and we waste it I'll do a terry Wallace again

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
Agree with all that. Just hit 50 games, the number where clubs theoretically begin to see a return on their investment. Late season form was excellent. Will probably resign with Saints. More likely anyway.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....
Re: When Lonie met Buckley
Lonie's got a lot of potential and played good this season, imo. Would much prefer he would stay.

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
Fair assessment. I simply think he's just too small and too light to make it (gets bumped off it and barely sticks a tackle). But - he does get the pill and something always happens when he's near it (admittedly - it's not always good). Having said all of that - playing his position in our haphazard, disgracefully organised forward line which just has the ball bombed into it - must be just hell.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Mon 24 Sep 2018 1:40pmBeen on the Lonie band wagon since pre-season.resaintlee wrote: ↑Mon 24 Sep 2018 1:28pm Lonie appears to show more leadership and reads the play better than many of our players. I'd rather Meatball have made the cut (as he's got the ability to also play midfield) but I think Jack L deserves a 2 year deal based on his progression over the last 6 weeks.
Go you red, black & white warriors

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
Lethlean said on the podcast that we want him to stay and have made an offer. Lonie is deciding if he want to take it.

He will be very handy by the time we are ready for a tilt. I also agree that he's shown enough, and was even sticking some tackles later in the season tooresaintlee wrote: ↑Mon 24 Sep 2018 1:28pm Lonie appears to show more leadership and reads the play better than many of our players. Re: When Lonie met Buckley
One year offer made in oneness report I read which seems right. If he gets a better offer he will seek a trade to pies. Poor timing as They really won't care about that this for a while.
Silly question but when do players contract expire? Ie I hear November and then year end. I.e. 31st December. Is it before or after the draft
