Unfortunately living in Perth I don't get to see much of the players only the high lights reel & what I read so really can't make an informed opinion . What do you people in the know think of the King boys obviously from Victoria so no worry of home sickness & is one better than the other or should we go for a crow eater & Is there any chance Walsh will slide to number 4 ? I would really appreciate your feedback

If Rankine was from Melbourne he'd be my number one choice but we just can't afford to lose a kid wanting to go home after his two years are up. We'd probably get another first round pick back and lose two years of development when we need to be bringing in guys who can be playing very good footy in the next 2-3 years.

1 - Walsh
2 - Smith
3 - Rankine
4 - Lukosius

If we recruit King I will be furious. Unless we've somehow managed to bring in Hannebery and Gaff/Shiel/Wingard and in the process traded out McCartin

Hawthorn great Terry Wallace has urged St Kilda to target South Australian young gun Izak Rankine at this year’s National Draft.

Rankine, 18, is rated as one of the most exciting talents in the 2018 draft, and looks almost certain to be taken inside the top five.

Te Saints, who currently hold pick four, are looking for additional midfield class and Wallace believes the classy midfielder/forward is the type of player that fits the bill.

If we could get pick one would we be likely to go for Lukosius (sp?) or would Walsh be or likely target.

I don't know the talents of the kids in the draft but my concern with Rankine is he is quite small and we already have too many small bodied players.

If it was open season on recruiting, everyone would be trying to sign both the King boys. I'd say anybody here who says they don't want them probably actually just prefers someone else or wants a player from a different position - probably a mid. The Kings are absurdly athletic for kids of that size and they're contested marking machines. I think the big issue is their kicking. In his only TAC game for the year, Ben kicked 8.6 (some clips from the game below) and put at least one out on the full. Ben kicked 5.5 over the weekend. So in that sense, they're projects for our resident goalkicking guru (...) if either or both wind up here. They're clearly exceptional talents though.

In terms of how the actual draft is going to pan out, it's worth keeping an eye out for Callum Twomey's articles on the official website. He doesn't insert his own opinions too much in proceedings and usually gets his info by brute force, hounding club recruiters to get whatever information he can. Right now he has Walsh as the number 1 prospect. That matches the whispers going around the internet. I should stress that I'm certainly not an ITK. In fact, I know very little of anything. Supposedly, Carlton are going to take Walsh, then Gold Coast will take Lukosius. Gold Coast will trade the third pick to Adelaide, who will take Rankine which will leave us a choice between the King boys or some midfielders that aren't at the level of Walsh or Rankine.

The only vaguely plausible scenario that has Walsh lasting to our pick is if Carlton decide to take Lukosius and then Gold Coast decide they're going to build their team around the twins. Gold Coast have taken a lot of mid types in recent years and they already have an extra first round pick from West Coast. If they lose May, they could have 5 picks in the top 25 before even considering trading pick 3. They're also likely to wind up with Bailey Scott at a relative bargain as an academy player. So I would say it's possible, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Rankine seems more likely than Walsh. King seems the most likely, however, since he's coming back from a season ending injury, can't kick straight and he plays a position that's already overcrowded. A perfect fit.
