There was a rumour a few weeks back RE Brisbane trading their first pick for a Ross or Steven....

Brisbane are gunning for Lachie Neale with that pick I think.

All rumours regarding Brisbane giving us their pick. Not going to happen as our guys are not worth it. Plus Id rather keep 2 of only a handful pf plates actually playing well

Rozee played perhaps the best game of his season last week, a 24-disposal and 10-mark effort for North Adelaide's senior SANFL side. He sounds good but do we need another player who plays off Half-back?

If so why do all 18 clubs bother to hire and pay for recruiting staff?
Why not just read the phantom drafts published online and follow those?
the same ones that had mccartin as the best or second best prospect in the land? Or Watts? Boyd? Swallow? Patton? etc etc.
the clubs hire recruiters to cut down the odds of drafting a turkey. but the history books show they hardly ever identify the best prospect. too many variables at play. which is why some clubs run this silly psych test, hoping to eliminate one variable - trouble is, it's also a very inexact science prone to too much subjectivity.
look at this years rising star. the three standouts went 6, 17, and 23.
in its history only 6 winners of 26 have come from top five draft picks, and 2 from the mini draft.

Rankine won’t be there at pick 4. He’ll be Gold Coast’s first selection.
If we want to avoid taking a risk then how about not selecting a tall guy with a serious knee injury whose been playing under-age footy opposed to (a limted number) of smaller players in a zone system comp and who is not a great set shot.
Although it is a bit early you have to judge the recruiters on last years picks clarke and Coffield, the recruiter had all the time in the world to pick correctly and if one of those turns out to be a very good player then they have done their job. If that does not happen then some of the saints recruiting will go down as the worst in VFL/AFL history regardless of who they pick this year. Can someone name the current head recruiter?

Chris Libratore and IMO he did a good job last year. Hunter, Coffield and Paton all look like good selections with a big future.

I still can't see how that relates to 2nd and 3rd round picks being any better than they were in previous drafts.
I can understand a few outliers, but Mathematics would tell you that it's unlikely that pick 20 - 25 is likely to be significantly better this year than last.

I think Smith is an inside mid which will do not need especially with Dan coming on board, we need either a ruckman (none in top 5 contention) an outside mid with speed to burn (Walsh but no chance to get him) or a speedy forward that may transition into the mids (Rankine). So our recruiters will get Max King, I can just feel it.
Depending on who is available I feel that GC will go for Lukosius and Rozee ( both from SA) or both King brothers. To help reduce the go home factor.
It will depend on who Carlton select.
Tom Atkins for me as we need a quality bull mid and you can pick him up as a very late pick. Don't expect our recruiters to be ahead of the pack though!
Get a fat looking kid ( like Hodgey was at 17 or Lingy or Clayton Oliver or Olly Wines from Port) that knows how to win his own footy, has a booming left or right foot kick, is elite with his skills and loves to take a contested mark.
Do some testing on their heart and if it's as big as Phar Lap and he can play more than 85% TOG and he ticks all the above criteria then sign him up
