Bring Nicky home to Linton St.

Post: # 1757130Post Enrico_Misso »

The statue commissioned depicting Winmar’s stance against the Pies ferals is almost ready to be unveiled.
They had planned to erect it outside the new WA stadium.

But now those ungrateful Sandgropers are winging that other aboriginal footballers did more for the game and/or copped more racial abuse than Cuz.
So they think it is disrespectful to have a statue of Nicky ahead of say Farmer or Cable.

Fine.

Put Nicky up at Moorabbin.
Right outside our museum.

Perfect place.
He can than then be admired by fans who truly respect him instead of those surly ungratefuls from Boo City.

Nicky at Moorabbin, Polly Farmer outside the WA stadium. Polly was a giant of the WAFL and the VFL.

He wants it in WA. I think his wishes should be respected.

I agree, it wasn't a statement about St Kilda, so even though he's a Saints legend I don't think it belongs outside Moorabbin...put it in WA where he wants it and tell them all to piss off.

He's been sold on the WA idea.

Club should discus this with him. At length. But his wishes should be respected completely.

Personally I think it should now be overlooking the Moorabbin oval in front of the new development there. Smack bang pride of place. Give it the respect it deserves.

I honestly think it would mean more to St.Kilda than anywhere. Culturally and spiritually.

Seen the Kennedy statue at Waverley? Bet they take that with them when they move.

If they don't have anything happening soon then the club should be banging drums to get the ball rolling, no matter where it is going.

On face value this is not getting the respect it deserves.

Whilst I would prefer the MCG, the new WA ground would be just as good.

I think magnifisaints post was very tongue in cheek. My understanding is that the WA Footy people have mixed feelings about it. If the don't want it at Optus...then Moorabbin it is.

Just don't put it at Victoria Park...as was being suggested on SEN

put it in front of the MCG.

That way every time footy fans walk past it they can reminisce about what a bunch of feral racist bigots Collingwood fans were - and perhaps still are (Adam Goodes anyone ?)

This is muslim political correctness gone mad!!! Those west-mexicans don't deserve the great man, believe me! Nicky Winmar is a great man! A true patriot! And a war hero. Just like me. And unlike that John McCain guy, Nicky Winmar was never captured by the enemy. And I admire that, believe me. Nicky Winmar said "no!" to those unwashed marxist rapist hordes on that great day at Victoria Park. His statue should be chiseled from white marble and placed for all decent European people to see......... down that side street somewhere in outer suburban Moorabbin, wherever that is. And every year on the anniversary, there will be a great military parade in his honour, believe me folks.
