Billings maybe gone for Essendon's 1st rounder. If done. Pick 9.

Though Blues fans always kept saying that they would get BJ and it never happened.

IMO Billings is a class player who will really shine if :
1/we can get some better players into the team
2/f----n Richo stops trying to play him as a small forward. He needs to be used to set up play.

Billings gone for Essendon's 1st rounder. Done. Pick 9.
I hope not, pick 9 could turn into 12+ after compos etc.

I would be telling the bombers to look for a top 5 pick like we had to for Carlisle.

Billings for Essendon's first pick? Madness. That would be a Bains/Trout move.

If we are bringing in players like Hanners at his age we will be p*****g that up against the wall if we trade out players of Billings ability and age.

Now if it basically gained us a Shiel I guess you would look at it, but if was just to be used on another kid then that would be a scattergun approach.

Players that we can lose to trade to improve our team are:
- One of our key forwards (as we have too many) - This category would probably give us the greatest value back
- One or more of our slow inside mids (As even before Hanners we had too many in this category). Dunstan seems the most likely.
- Lonie. The one year contract offer means that he cannot go as a DFA.
- One ruckman

Our Pick 4 this year needs to be kept as this years draft will give us at least one quality young gun. Though I will lose my s*** if we waste it on one of the Kings. Last time we were at the top end of picks it was a very week draft (ie Paddy/Petracca) whereas this year is an exceptionally strong pool in the Top 4.

I expect that we will trade out next years second. If a Shiel is on the table hopefully next years first rather than this years first.

For mine, won't be sorry to see Billings gone if this is true. Don't get me wrong I really rate him as a player and think he's going to be terrific - but for somebody else. He has never looked to me like he wanted to play for the saints - never, not since he first stood on that podium as a number 3 pick. There is just no point having players in the team that don't want to be there.

I reckon most of our senior list is fair game in an ideal world- Gresh has shown some class, but really, no player has put their hand up and had a standout season. I just see a lot of players doing just enough to get a game, and not busting a gut to do much more, and a few cameo performances from a couple of players here and there doesn't get a team up the ladder into finals..nor do I think they are playing for the coach. Nuff said.

More like pick 10.

Personally, I think it's bs.

I really like Billings so would be upset if he left. I have to say I have sensed the same thing from watching him. I just hope we're misinterpreting and he's just having some personal struggles.

He seems to enjoy playing with Sinclair so hopefully that helps a bit to keep him.

Well, with all the proposed freebie picks they're giving away to the other hapless teams, it would be nice for us to trade our way back into the top 5 again.
