Chris Scott or Richo
Channel 7 commentators have thrown out the Friday night burley.
Hypothetically, if the Cats parted company with Scott, would he be a good fit for us?

Re: Chris Scott or Richo
It's not a tactic, more like mental jousting.
But hey while we are discussing tactics, do you know what a tactic is? Here's a clue, it's not randomly throwing keys anywhere.

Yeah and how long before he's expected to convert his impressive win/loss ratio into a flag, or even just some finals wins.congorozides wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 12:03amChris Scott by a country mile.

He would need to lose the next 210 games in a row to catch Richo.
Nearly 10 full seasons without a single win just to break even.
Think about it.

He’s already something Richo will never ever be. A premiership coach

Re: Chris Scott or Richo
Put Richo into any team that's ever won a flag (if u had a time machine)
and I bet they would get bundled out of the finals in straight sets.
He has no idea about coaching.

Re: Chris Scott or Richo
That finals winning ratio for Chris Scott that the channel 7 producers spat out ....wait for it....conveniently LEFT OUT the year that he coached them to a premiership. It was 3 wins and 9 losses SINCE 2011, and NOT including 2011ss1986 wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 1:09amYou’re drunk.Cairnsman wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 12:09amYeah and how long before he's expected to convert his impressive win/loss ratio into a flag, or even just some finals wins.congorozides wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 12:03amChris Scott by a country mile.

I can't stand the guy as a person, but you have to hand it to him when it comes to everything there is with the craft of coaching. As the previous posts have highlighted; he is a successful senior coach PLUS he boasts a flag in his CV.
Very happy btw with the result and long may they keep losing every single final that they play in. Can't stand their arrogant players and the arrogance of their coach at times and especially the arrogance of their cocky supporters

Re: Chris Scott or Richo
Given the respective talent available to both coaches, it could be argued both had similar underperforming seasons.
How can a side with Dangerfield, Selwood, Albert, Menagola, Hawkins, Kelly, Taylor, Duncan surrender so meekly?
Taylor & Ablett do look finished.

Re: Chris Scott or Richo
Geelong seem to have been topping up for years, have very good top end players , lots of money, destination club, etc maybe haven't
developed that well, fell into finals.
Maybe Chris Scott is more like Ross can get the job done with good team.

Resources, Scott has got em, and in spades. It's the sum of all parts.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 6:29am

Would changing the coach bring them flag success, or is there another part or parts they are missing that is stopping them from reaching flag success.
They are a wealthy club, an enviable recruiting department, world class training facilities, and thier list is chockers with A graders and also have some elites.
They have a lot of parts we would kill for at our club.

Re: Chris Scott or Richo
This is a myth that the cats have a a great list stars. These guys expect for Dangerfield and Selwood as average and way past their best. Ablett is a shadow of his former self and has minimal impact in games these days. The cats have an average list. They have a game plan and style and work ethic that has enabled them to perform reasonably well over the years.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 6:29am Given the respective talent available to both coaches, it could be argued both had similar underperforming seasons.

They have a good football department.
Scott is in a class above the hack we have as a coach.

After those guys, there's absolutely nothing left in the well!
Taylor is cooked, Ablett is largely non-influential.
So they're left with a crack midfield, and a single target up forward...... or bust.
It's a good enough recipe to make the 8 each year, but nowhere near good enough to be a genuine threat.
I reckon Selwood is finally busted up too. Not the dynamic player he was.
Their list management, like many other clubs over the years, thought they could buck the system and never 'reset'.

Good point Rodger, hand full of stars a couple aging and then the list falls away dramatically.rodgerfox wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 2:25pmI think the question answers itself!Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 08 Sep 2018 6:29am

Athletic big men like Blicsavs and Stanley who have no physical presence doesn’t help.
You could argue Brad has done more than Chris as a coach given comparative resources, facilities and playing lists.
