Did he? My maths has it as over two years plus....
Yes I noticed that is what Summers claims BUT Bassat joined the Baord in July 2016. Or at least that is what was reported at the time.
Seek co-founder Andrew Bassat joins Board

Of note too, it is the second time Bassat has been on the St Kilda Board. He also had a brief stint in a back in 2007, when the board was presided over by Rod Butterss but which finished due to Footy First.
Having earlier experience I see as a good thing.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
Brandon Chizik will replace Summers on the board. Riewoldt to replace Thommo.

Delighted with this announcement and it will be even better if Jim Watts is elected to the new Board at the AGM in December.
It is to be hoped that Andrew Bassat brings strong and demonstrative leadership to the St Kilda Football Club because the last two Presidents (Westaway and Summers) were far too low key.
A priority for the new Board must be to develop a positive profile for the club in the marketplace so that they can attract one or more national brand sponsor to back the team - with due respect to the current sponsors, not one is exactly a "household name".
For those on this forum who feel that Bassat, as an existing Director was part of the so called failings of the Board under Summers, give the man the benefit of the doubt. As I posted previously, we don't know what role if any Bassat played in the extension of Richo's contract in 2017 and for all we know he opposed it....we'll never know.
I really like the fact that Bassat is only 52 and his obvious success in business indicates that he is highly motivated to do whatever is necessary to turn the club's fortunes around.
Ok...the dust is settling and unfortunately it looks like we are only going to have a bit sweeping things under the carpet than real change.
Of note the OLD Board is basically the NEW Board. Unless nothing happens at the AGM the Status Quo looks like remaining.
Watts unfortunately has not come in as President and Bassat along with a majority of the Board all want to keep Richo on. This is hardly surprising as they rubber-stamped his extension.
What we need is real Board change. This has not happened, and it now seems will not happen. As it stands there will be hardly any new blood, and the new President is a Old Boardmember of 2.5 years standing.
Yes there are going to be some new experienced assistants, and maybe someone like Gubby hired (and this is good). But what type of future is there when they are reporting to a poor Head Coach, and one does not have the respect of a significant core of players. What hope is there then to gain any players of quality to the club?

There are more changes coming coaching wise but we are stuck with Alan.
Hopefully he is properly performance managed in 2019
All because this board and that moron Finnis decided to extend a contract that didn’t warrant it
Commercially irresponsible, reckless, amateurish and the only loser???? St Kilda
Another ferkin wasted year coming up so Finnis can get his AFL Exec job and sleek off intobtge sunset a hero
Even IF we win 10 games through an injection of decent assistants with a game plan this piece of cr@p will be out front and centre : “I told yoise all Alan was da man !!”
Disgraceful - after he brought in a friggin cricketer to Head our footy ops (fail again) this turkey decides he knows best....
Makes me sick
