I am not sure which "self-proclaimed ITK " you mean, but as far as I am aware the original source of that particular rumour was a poster who when he posted had made all of 6 posts. So I personally would have a building size grain of salt on that snippet.
As Longmire is contracted by the Swans till 2020 I cannot envisage him having agreed to coach the Saints in 2019.Uber Roo, post: 57690308, member: 189921 wrote:Sorry for the interruption folks

Apparently he’s gone and the replacement this year or next will be J Longmire

I believe everything on here could well be true.
Until I got to the Longmire bit.
Why on earth would he go anywhere?
Can you imagine what he would think when he compared the Swans player development department to ours?
lol.
Just fkn facepalming lol.

I've done all I can to lead youse to the water....I dont know if my eavesdropping will come 100% true but it is 50% of the way with Mr Ratten on board....let's see if we hat I heard was planning and hoping or solid decisions been made.
That's the problem with ITK. The club can 100% say and want something but both parties have to agree or it doesn't come true, I reckon plenty of ITK's hear real stuff being discussed but it's making it happen that's the hard part.

Re: Gut feeling that Richo may be replaced by Ratten
Please don't get me wrong, I am all for stability and not after chop and change of coach. Look at Collingwood, Richmond, Geelong few years ago. Changing coach will not mean that the club will improve, it has to be all around.
The reason I am thinking that Richo will be replaced is because we haven't heard anything from him since we removed Freeman and Goddard. We haven't heard him talking about the changes to the Asst coaches.
All we can see is that every member of the Coaching structure is changed including the list Manager.
Paying out Richo is not a difficult task for the New President nor paying a big gun, so all in all I am thinking that it may be matter of time, it could be a coach who is involved in the finals campaign
Only time will tell

I think Sexton is the key. Needs to be moved out.
Richardson - Director of Coaching
Ratten - Head Coach
Lade - Assistant Coach
????? - Assistant Coach (Harvey?)
????? - Assistant Coach (Hayes?)
Choco Williams - Development Director ?
Gubby Allen - Recruitment Director ?

Re: Gut feeling that Richo may be replaced by Ratten
Could it be that if we sack Richo the extra payments add to our salary cap for staff ?
The penalties for a breach are huge. This is to stop the rich clubs getting richer although I'm sure there are beneficial deals under the table.
Therefore it's not just Richo's redundancy payment we face.
Maybe the board know the situation is untenable but....
we're snookered ??

Re: Gut feeling that Richo may be replaced by Ratten
We must keep paying Richo.
It makes sense to relocate him to Director of Coaching
where he can happily play with his crayons,
and not infect the group any longer.
The club can then spin it easily, saying 'he isn't demoted, but is overseeing all the coaching,
and is mentoring Ratten'.
Ratten has worked before with AR, so they could shake hands and
work together better than AR did with Kingsley.

From MG BF
************
When Richo is moved on shortly there will be a proper search for the new coach, Ratten or whoever else certainly won’t walk into the job. I’d have Ratts right at the top of our wishlist with a couple of others but he’s certainly going to have to go through the proper process.
I know it’s been very amateurish this season but I have full faith in Lethlean and Bassat, even more so tonight than I did a few days ago.
I know we all want answers now but trust me when I say our board is going through what it needs to go through to come out with the right outcome for us all.

I cringe at Choco & Grubby [sic]......... but I grudgingly concede they might bring a bit of hard edged mongrel back to the Saints.

I can assure people on this board with 99% certainty the only way Ratten will become head coach is as a caretaker.

How do you see a sacked coach going into the role of Director of Coaching at the same club?BackFromUSA wrote: ↑Mon 03 Sep 2018 6:10pm I think Sexton is the key. Needs to be moved out.

Ratten - Head Coach

How will his interaction be with coaching group and players?
I see it as a difficult transition.
If Richo is sacked he must go and the place swept clean.
On Harvey and Hayes I'd only want them if they are the best two assistants available, the fact that they are saints greats should not enter the equation or decision making.

Agree with Joffa. Don’t agree at all with Richardson as DOC. A sacked coach as the boss of a the new one???? Makes no sense to me. He needs to be exited from the club. Fresh start from the top all the way through the coaching ranks.

Re: Gut feeling that Richo may be replaced by Ratten
My understanding is that the director of coaching Abe the head coach work side by side in developing the whole coaching team and that the head coach reports to the director of football as does the director of coaching. So it would be a sideways move. Richardson would not be Rattens boss was what I thought. But I may be wrong about the structure and reporting.

Do we really need a Director of Coaching anyway???
Same goes for many of the 'line coaches'.

No idea what current structure is butting I’m guessing you can define the roles as you choose.BackFromUSA wrote: ↑Wed 05 Sep 2018 8:10pm My understanding is that the director of coaching Abe the head coach work side by side in developing the whole coaching team and that the head coach reports to the director of football as does the director of coaching. My point is not the chain of report but staying in a revised role after being removed from the top job rarely works.
A bit like Tony Abbott from the back bench.

If we had known, we should have got Longmire instead of Lyon
But why on earth would Longmire leave the Sydney list to come and coach our list.
$5 million a year maybe but probably not enough.
