He if was the second, you would not get him for the first. - Must admit there is certainly some logic to that - but he is young and new to the game - if you look at his stats his tackles are also pretty impressive - he could be a pretty scary bloke to have in the middle you would think - I recon most players would rather be with him than against himsaintsRrising wrote: ↑Thu 23 Aug 2018 9:27am

Looking at his VFL stats this year he goes ok in the HO's but does not do a lot around the ground.

Re: Scott Lycett vs Braden Preuss
How do you feel about Lycett joining the Saints? How much would it be of an improvement on what we have?
We have 4 ruckmen on our list and for the last 4 years there is stll uncertainty as to who should be our number 1 ruckman
Indicative of the fact that this club needs an overhaul. President, CEO and Head Coach must go

Lycers might be bound for PA also to act as a backup for Ryder. The Eagles are planning for rucks as they are pretty sure he is leaving their nest.

And unlike his team mate Ballantyne who probably couldn't land an offer to move, I reckon there'll be plenty of offers for Brad Hill

Re: Scott Lycett vs Braden Preuss
YES - trade hickey and longer - Pierce still the back up man -
Get Preuss give him a crack - he has a real dip - he wins tap outs, tackles like mad man - moves very well - is new to the game so will hopefully improve possession count as he goes on in his career - still behind Goldy at north so may be open to the lure of number 1

Re: Scott Lycett vs Braden Preuss
I'm sure both Hickey and Longer were considered "the next big thing" when we recruited them, bye bye Big Boy McEvoy the spud, blah, blah blah.
All I'm saying is a couple of good games, lots of potential doesn't always work out. Our blokes like all our players will be better in a better team.

Re: Scott Lycett vs Braden Preuss
I really don't get the love for lycett Especially if the 700k is true
At 25 he may still have more development to come but really apart from a pure goal kicking point of view the rest of his stats don't offer more than Hickey's and I'm also factoring in his history of shoulder problems and a pcl
So given current ruck stocks Pierce can see a clear development / succession plan, and I'm very happy with
Duel ruck combo of Pierce and Marshall
Bringing in lycett will stuff that

Re: Scott Lycett vs Braden Preuss
Did you watch the video wally ? there is no chance Longer has put a game anything like that together ever at afl level - Hickey has had a few good games which would have a highlight reel BUT I think everyone has said again and again he cant provide presence and strength to the contest - Preuss can do that and provide some athletic abilitieswally wrote: ↑Sun 02 Sep 2018 6:11pm I'm sure both Hickey and Longer were considered "the next big thing" when we recruited them, bye bye Big Boy McEvoy the spud, blah, blah blah.

Re: Scott Lycett vs Braden Preuss
Happy that Lycett is gone, but can Preuss take a contested mark. We need this skill more than anything as we only have Carlisle and members this year that can do it.
If he can take contested Mark's then how much for Preuss?

He is a spud.
42 ruck contests last week for ONE hitout to advantage.

Great news, Lycett to Port to be Kochie's new bestie.
Another dud trade dodged.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Scott Lycett vs Braden Preuss
Eagles interested in Hickey. If Acres really wants to head home then we could do well out of this. WC have pick 20 at the moment. Would we be happy with that trade? Or if Gaff is still in the picture we could use these two as some leverage. Would we be happy with Gaff and pick 20 for Pick 4 Hickey and Acres? I see Hickey as collateral really so really its just pick 4 and Acres for Gaff and 20. I'd take it. Then pick 20 and another player for another good mid and we'll look much better for next year. Two decent mids will turn us around in no time. Ross then becomes our 4 th best mid, not our 2nd. Maybe even 5th or 6th best as expect Gresh to be in the middle much more next year and Steele to improve further. Midfield depth is what we need to see.

Re: Scott Lycett vs Braden Preuss
Trading out or pick 3 or 4 will be a mistake. The talent is there this year and we are not close to finals so getting in a mature player would be good but getting a gun like Walsh,Rankine or Smith (depending on who is left) will be better for the future. Get Ratten in to start coaching (even as assistant) will help a lot and another pre season will help a lot of our players. PLus we are cutting dead wood already. Future looks better but 2020 more likely to play finals than 2019
