FORMER No.10 draft pick Nathan Freeman has been delisted by St Kilda after just two AFL games.
The injury-plagued 23-year-old finally made his debut in round 21 and was dropped after a fortnight.

Surprised there is surprise about this....was patently obvious this was going to happen.
Was picked to appease the vocal minority and to reward the lad for his persistence and perseverance
in the knowledge he would not be going around with us in 2019...

I'm really not surprised either.Royston wrote: ↑Tue 28 Aug 2018 10:03pm Surprised there is surprise about this....was patently obvious this was going to happen.

Surely we rookie l iist him.
Why recruit him when he had srrious injury problems, just to delist him when he's finally been fit for a while with a pre-season to get fitter?? Esp as he was better in his 2 games then half the team!
Baffling..

Re: Freeman delisted
To be fair to the club I think they gave him a big chance unfortunately Nathan wasn't able to get back to his previous pace. I would have liked him to get one more year but that's AFL football. Maybe to be successful the club has to be ruthless.
Re: Freeman delisted
What a debacle.
3 years to get him right and when he gets there we delist him.
NFI what they doing down there.

Re: Freeman delisted
Looked slow and no penetration with his kicking when he came in. Feel awful for the guy. Possible rookie selection.

Re: Freeman delisted
There was absolutely no reason to keep him on the list. Finally some hard nosed decisions. Not sure Rucho would make a call like that so it’s offical, Lethas is wearing the pants in all rooms at Linton St.

Re: Freeman delisted
Seems harsh but has minimal defensive aspect to his game and unfortunately his injuries means he has lost his major weapon which was his speed.

Re: Freeman delisted
If he stays delisted and doesnt get rookied, but we keep Newnes who has 4 kicks a game and flat out refuses to win a hard ball himself, this club can go fornicate itself

Freeman delisted
Whilst I can’t say I’m entirely surprised I can say I feel quite sick about it.
I assume we can’t afford what we have had to pay him if he’s borderline, and we want the list spot, and that’s fine, but I still feel terrible for him.
I’d rookie him (if that is still a thing next year).

Lacking confidence in a body that has let him down many times, perhaps. Maybe they’ll rookie himIluvHarvey wrote: ↑Tue 28 Aug 2018 10:12pm Looked slow and no penetration with his kicking when he came in. Feel awful for the guy. Possible rookie selection.

Re: Freeman delisted
I find that to be an extremely puzzling, disappointing decision. This bloke worked his guts out for 5 years to get to the top level, earnt his spot( I do not agree he was gifted games - he deserved them ), looked fine at the top level, and gets the bullet. We have heaps of blokes who have had way more chances than Nathan, shown far less skill or ticker than he, have less upside for the future, and yet keep their spots.

Re: Freeman delisted
According to afl.com.au the Saints told him he is not required next year. I interpret that as he won't be rookie drafted, but its still breaking news.

Re: Freeman delisted
It doesn't sound like we are planning on rookie listing him
I'm not surprised really but I am disappointed.AFL.com.au understands the 23-year-old has been told he won't be required at Moorabbin next season.
The Saints were yet to officially confirm the news on Tuesday night, but it's understood the club's initial list management conversations with players will be completed on Wednesday.

Re: Freeman delisted
Yeah ruthless decision
What a crock
Completely crap list management more like
He showed a bit in 2 games, why not give him the last game if we were going to delist him? Not like we got. Game into a young player
Joke
