If you are going to take Max King in the draft do you think you can trade Paddy, a box of lancets and a tub of test strips for a late 5th round pick.
Do you ever get tired of bagging Paddy? I find it really tiresome to read.
i find it very amusing!
Ace n others aren't bagging Paddy per se,
we are disappointed by the idiots who wasted the #1 pick on a player
with a severely compromised body,
who requires a trainer to run out regularly to check the arm patch for blood sugar levels;
and who has big problems maintaining the right fitness levels because of his condition.

Must admit, I had him as papers stamped, but at worst tradebait with value or a new 1 year deal!!!!!
He deserves a one year deal. If he continues his improvement in 2019, then maybe offer him a 2 year deal.
I hope the club don’t get sucked in and offer him 2 years like they did with A. Fiona at the end of 2007 to then only delist him after one season.
I reckon he deserves a 2 year deal. He's shown enough to suggest it's not a fluke...we have plenty of other players that we could flick first. Just cracked the 50 game mark, will be a bit stronger, a bit fitter with another pre season. May never be a gun, but could be solid best 22. Fingers crossed!
I think we should trade him if we got something decent in return. If we got a second round draft pick we would be silly not to give it some serious thought. He had a great game last week but I have seen him have a lot more stinkers than good games.
Worse case is he get a year deal for next year and he bulks up a little over xmas/pre season and practices tackling over and over again. Surely next year is his final chance to become more than a fringe player

Great call.
We already have Gresh down forward, and Long looks like he's going to be a ripper as well. If we ever needed a third small or a back up, I think Meatball does a fine job, has battled injury this season, but when he comes in he can do what Lonie did on the weekend.
If someone offers us a second rounder for Lonie we would be crazy not to take it

I think he will be allowed to walk to Port Adelaide for nothing where he develop into a player of the quality of Tom Lynch.

Is the club not giving him another contract
Agent says nothing has been offered.
They could be waiting until after the exit interviews before they decided who gets delisted and who gets a reprieve on the rookie list.

I think clubs have to delist a minimum of 4 players?
Maybe in our case, it should be 8, because a lot of our guys aren't halfway decent.
2 of our guys would be equal to one normal player, shouldn't this be equalisation?

I think I saw Lethlean quoted as saying about Lonie:
"he has recently showed the Saints, and others who may be watching, just what he is capable of..."
hint hint hint
Club wants his trade value to increase, so we get a better pick for him.
He's on the table,
and that's why they're holding off.
Jack's agent said tonight that Saints haven't offered another contract yet.
Hmmm

So some would want Lonie to go, and we lose a forward who could poteniatally kick 2-3 goals per game on current form?..in a team which struggles to kick goals.

It’s a tricky one because I quite like the kid as well.
Gresh, Long, Billings... have to imagine the club sees him surplus to requirements
I would want to see a lot more from Long before I'm convinced, but I think we need a different kind of coach to really get the full potential out of these guys.

I think it was Nick Bowen on afl.com.au who listed him as a prime trade target for other clubs, and this was mid-season! I believe it was either the Giants or the Suns. So, the concept of Lonie not being at the Saints but still being in the AFL is only really a revelation to some posters here. Admittedly, I did scratch my head a little, but after I re-read it made sense, particularly if he struck the kind of form he has over the last month.

I personally do not see Billings as a small forward. Richo seems to, but that is a mistake. His best position is setting up the play. IMO I would also have Billings taking many f our kick-ins.
Gresham as his tank builds will spend more and more time taking his turn in the midfield rotations.
Long. Yes small forward suits him. But also can play back.
So IMO there is a slot for Lonie to be in the "best 22" if he plays like he has recently. ie Long and Lonie as the "small forwards". Gresh as midfield/forward. Billings wing to hb, who drifts forward.
Now if another club gave a good offer for him, you would look at it as we need ways of getting the midfield talent that we need. But if only peanuts, then I would keep him.

Lonie has enough to say he could also pinch hit thru the middle as well. He’s definitely one we should be keeping. Clearly a popular team man and has the sort of hard edge/niggle we should be targeting! I for one would be very dissapointed if we let him go!
Couldn't imagine being offered a second round pick , but if someone did would take it in a heart beat. Probably more likely to be Steak Knives in a trade deal .
Depending on who else goes could be a 1 year deal but if go get Menzel then see ya later.
Minchington mentioned but injuries and multiple years prior of not being able to lock down a spot i would think = delist.
