Bring him home. He can remembered as a Saint.

You are fast
Everyone can shoot me down but I would bring him back on a 1 year contract without hesitation.

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
Free agent.
Don't need to pay Injectors.
And...he is far far better than a lot of others on our list.
Hey, drop Newnes and play BJ instead.
Will get 100% more passion than Newnes gives.
Leadership down back that we badly need.
there are so many guys we can delist, will be easy to get him in,
this is so easy and makes sense to me

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
Great player and career, but he’s cooked.
Has lost his speed and drops off into defense most of the time when I’ve watched him.
His opponent is regularly the transition player or lead up player opponents use.
No as a player for mine.
Great career and congratulations.
Was as top 10 player in the comp between 09 - 11.

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
He ticks most of the required boxes to be worth a spot on our list...
Can we get him for nothing? Yes.
Can he kick? Yes.
Would he be in our best 22? Yes.
Does he have leadership skills? Yes.
Will he be around for our next finals campaign? Probably not.
But I dare say he may end up somewhere where success is more likely in the short term.

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
Id take him on a rookie contract. No more.
Interestingly on FC last night they reported that Leethan wanted someone next year in the mold of Hodgy or Lewis for us as we need 'more experience' yet Monty and Roo, who both wanted to play on this year,. were told no. Slap in the face of two legends of our club. I would love for Roo or Monty to come out publicly and rip shreds off our current admin. I know it wouldnt be a good look but they deserve a rocket up them for being so stupidly incompetent.

i don't think a top 8 team could use him, as they would have great depth.Beno88 wrote: ↑Tue 21 Aug 2018 1:04pm He ticks most of the required boxes to be worth a spot on our list...

A guy in the twilight years can only go where the talent is thin.
Sydney, Hawks, Cats wouldn't look at him as his inclusion would stand in the way of younger talent.

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
Ditto for Jordan Lewis though - but what he's done to help their group as a whole has outweighed his on-field deficiencies in my opinion.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Tue 21 Aug 2018 12:59pm Great player and career, but he’s cooked.

No thanks.
He is done!
And his finger pointing is worse than ever.
Not as a player at least.

Is the Roo wanting to play on talk actuall true? I have serious doubts that if he wanted to play on he would have been pushed out.

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
I'd prefer Goddard doesn't play in the backline. Would be an asset around the club and on game day, but play him in the middle, play him at stoppages, and play him forward when he gets a bit tired.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 21 Aug 2018 12:57pm Free agent.

For 1 year only. Yes. Will give us nearly the same as say a guy like........................
Hannebery. People will immediately dispute that, but think about it.
Costs us nothing
Goddard will relish it as a new challenge and he knows what it takes to be an elite mid

He'd also be like an assistant coach out on the ground. God know we need a few decent ones.Beno88 wrote: ↑Tue 21 Aug 2018 1:04pm He ticks most of the required boxes to be worth a spot on our list...

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
He could be a good fit for our current needs.
If we are looking for an "experienced" campaigner to support the young guys, with his Saints background, he has a lot more to offer than other players likely to be available to us.
- Experience & drive.
- Strong on-field voice (would need to tone down a bit - he's not the captain).
- A great kick.
- Still good enough to be in our top 22.
- Returning to the Saints, he should be motivated to put in a good year.
- 1 Year contract only.
Pity about Roo & Monty being pushed aside last year. Who is being held responsible for that?

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
Great idea!!
Get BJ back.
a) He is not cooked. Not at all. He can take a sweeper role across half back. Can still play. St K back 6 'out of' Carlile, BJ, Roberton, H Goddard, Savage, Geary, Rice and Brown looks OK to me.
b) The guy who is cooked is Sammy Gilbert - delist - replace with BJ. Straight swap.
c) The club admits it got it wrong on Joey and Roo - they underestimated the vacuum they would leave. Now, in retrospect, understand the need for leadership. BJ provides it - the guy's a pro, that's what this group desperately needs.
d) Feels right to finish at Saints. It would provide a nice boost to the group.
Start the campaign 'Saints wanna BJ!'

He plays half back flank, isn't that where he's supposed to be?Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Tue 21 Aug 2018 12:59pm Has lost his speed and drops off into defense most of the time when I’ve watched him.
Anyways, def worth a 1 year contract IMO, depending on who we delist.

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
Get him back asap, just the sort of leadership and onfield coaching we need. He has footy smarts and would play the hodge role very well.
Plus , if he played forward, our goal kicking accuracy goes through the roof.
From a marketing perspective, it's a great story and i think we're going to need a few to get members on board next year.

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
If the guy comes cheaply. Then why the heck not? If the club doesn’t at least TEST the feasibility of contracting a former Saints legend, because of past events, then we truly are a “ basket case “

Re: BJ Goddard not offered new contract by injectors
BJ is one of the most selfish people I have ever met, if he had leadership of any sort, Essendon would keep him!!!!!
To put him in the same bracket as Hodge is a massive insult to Hodge!!!!!
St.Kilda don't need Goddard, would prefer McVeigh!!!!!
Don't be so desperate people!!!!!
