Ratten would be a reasonable get for the head coaching position. Cant see why you would hang onto Richo if Ratten joined the saints though.

Very very underwhelming at Carlscum. And under his tenure they had their strongest sides since the turn of the century.

And those sides were boosted by getting Mr don't-tell-anyone-that-I've-invested-in Matheson's pokies-and-am-being paid-to-not actually-do-promotional-work-for-tricky Dicky Pratt.
Boosted when they at that stage weren't ready to take full advantage.
Boosted by Mr Chickenwing... at the (on-going) cost of the team's future.

After hearing that Hawthorn had asked Brett to walk I am having a change of mind on whether he's a replacement candidate for Richo. Jeff Kennet and the board along with Clarko decided not to renew his contract. We should be asking why. Don't get me wrong, I think he would be a terrific person to employ as an assistant coach. He has A1 intellectual property but may not have the hunger for success or the 'nastiness' that we need in the top job.

that story says that at Carlscum, Richo was Ratten's assistant,
so at our club, the roles would be reversed.
I wonder how they would get on, with Ratten having to bow down to Richo, when he used to be his superior.
And Richo, knowing he's on thin ice (even he's not so thick as to realise his predicament)
would be aware that he's only keeping the seat warm for Ratten.

Richo would be expecting that a poor 2019 would mean he gets the Sarsparilla,
for Ratten to take over.
It's not really ideal, working under someone who used to serve under you.

Would be a sadistic post if not true given the disappointments all year. Brett was a terrific mid fielder and as coach seemed to have the Blues going ok when he was shafted by Carlton. That act of treachery probably wiped off any feelings Brett had towards the Saints or other clubs, good or bad, so he would start fresh, plus he would have learnt from Clarko. Only better news would be AR has resigned and Lenny has accepted the job after a long and exhaustive process involving Robert Walls and GT. Hope its a 2018 calendar year start.

Ratten lost his son in tragic circumstances a couple of years ago, reckon that would have knocked the stuffing out of him.

Perhaps the Hawks moved Ratten so they can make space for Mitchell.
