Pierce - Good game No 2
Great game early on by the big fella in only his second game.

Re: Pierce has started very well..
Well after the first half he looks good. I would him the points over Bellchambers at present.
I am now really looking forward to watching his next 2.5 games.

Re: Pierce has started very well..
Well on another disappointing night Pierce was one plus.
Only one game, but that was better than Longer plays and even possibly Hickey.
Certainly fora ruckman playing only his second game it was a very credible performance.

Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
In a fairly one-sided Channel 7 commentary, I don't remember any positive comment as to Pierce playing his second game (first for the year) and his dominance in the hit-outs (40 to 25 for the team) and 18 possessions.
Bell-Chambers 13 possessions and was on the ground for 93% to Pierce 79%.

Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
Well my tactic for tonight was to concentrate on watching Pierce rather than the team. So I am feeling happier than I otherwise normally would about now.

Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
Judging Pierce for the whole game, i wasn't that impressed, in fact, i could see why they dumped him to the rookie list.
we don't have a quality Ruckman.
you can see why McPhee got the arse, our midfield s work is ordinary.
You can see why Trout was booted.
our recruiting has been shite.

Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
Really pleased for Peirce. Battling away with Frankston all year must've been tough, especially when Longer was getting a game.
Beat an inform Bellchambers and provided a presence throughout.

Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
Really impressed with Pierce and think he looks like he’s ready to be our no.1 ruck. Looks a bit like big boy Neve ou the way he covers the ground. Had put on some good bulk, showed good hands, had composure with ball in hand, took a few handy marks, more than held his own in the tucking duels...Richo said it was the first time he saw him live in 2018...damning and pathetic excuse! This guy should be our ruckman in 2018, no more stuffing around. He can play at afl level.

Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
Statistically Bellchambers has a pretty deacent year:
https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pg- ... llchambers
...and Pierce made this one of Bellchambers worst for the year.
In only his second AFL ever I personally think he gave a very creditable performance.
I also like the way he worked really hard at it, often throwing himself into packs etc.
Longer supposedly our best tap ruckman at the Saints in his 5 games only exceeded his tapout tally in one game. And around the ground Billy could only dream about playing like Pierce did.
Billy in his 5 games this season took 5 marks in total. Pierce took 5 marks in this game alone.
Billy in his 5 games this season had 31 disposals in total. Pierce had 18 disposals in this game alone.

Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
I still remember seeing the combination of Tom Hickey and Lewis Pierce absolutely dismantling Carlton in Pierce’s debut game, where Lewis even got himself a debut goal! The “reward” .... back to Sandy for the lad! All because of the “accepted wisdom” being bandied around that “ you don’t play two ruckmen” Yeah! RIGHT!Saint wagga wrote: ↑Sat 11 Aug 2018 10:37am Really impressed with Pierce and think he looks like he’s ready to be our no.1 ruck. Looks a bit like big boy Neve ou the way he covers the ground. Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
And Pierce hasn't even been in the St. Kilda system this year. He's been in the Frankston Dolphins' system. Indictment on our coaching staff IMO.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sat 11 Aug 2018 10:50amStatistically Bellchambers has a pretty deacent year:

I’m Pierced off at the selectors - why did they keep overlooking him?
Even his first AFL game years ago - when he kicked a goal, was good.

Then to add insult to injury Richo said that maybe the Saints should have looked at him earlier.Saint wagga wrote: ↑Sat 11 Aug 2018 10:37am Really impressed with Pierce and think he looks like he’s ready to be our no.1 ruck. Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
Well he played with Number 42!!! on his back.
Biggest Ruck Number we have seen all year!!!
And indeed 1+18 is less than half of 42!!!

I thought he was excellent, considering.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Fri 10 Aug 2018 11:30pm Well on another disappointing night Pierce was one plus.

Surprised actually, to not hear a single mention of his performance by the commentators. I actually think they were mistaking him for Marshall throughout the game.
When he gets fit, he'll be really good.
Just on Marshall though....fair dinkum he is a 'dumb' footballer. Some of his decisions are perplexing. And it'd be nice if Dixon can teach him to concentrate when kicking for goal too. His eyes dart around and look everywhere except at the target and the ball throughout his entire run up.
Dude, once you've decided to have a shot - concentrate on the job at hand FFS. Very basic stuff.

And I wish Gresham would keep the ball still in his hands instead of twirling the thing about.rodgerfox wrote: ↑Sat 11 Aug 2018 12:10pmI thought he was excellent, considering.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Fri 10 Aug 2018 11:30pm Well on another disappointing night Pierce was one plus.
