So Mick Malthouse has written in the HS that the idea of us getting Hanners is a dumb idea.
That has swayed me, it must be a great idea, make it happen Saints......

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
It would have to be at a steal I think. We have to leave room in our cap for genuine big fish in the next year or two.
He would be expected to play 90% of the seasons games.
No doubt he brings hardness and inside skills. Better than anyone we have.
Is he much of a leader? Or at least a good communicator and teacher? Because to get someone at that age, and at a hefty price he would have to come with those skills.
Just not completely sold on him as yet.

Listening to SEN’s Off the Bench this morning, and they couldn’t believe we were even chasing Hannebery.
I hope it’s just a huge smoke screen and we are really targeting someone else.

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
According to Richo, this is all fair dinkum.
I think it's true. Can't really get anyone else, we'll pay Hannebery overs on a long-term deal, so he'll be interested, the club wants to prove it's being "aggressive" and pre-2017, Hannebery has an impressive highlights reel which they can use as a selling point to what few members they have left.

You clearly haven't read the 5 year plan - playing finals by 2018 and a second flag by 2020iwantmeseats wrote: ↑Fri 10 Aug 2018 1:35pmDude I’m sorry I really am, we won’t be within a bulls roar of a GF in 3 years. Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
Please no, he was a star but body is cooked and also 27 years old = not going to be in our next finals push .
Also in contract so have to give up something for him, early which we don't have. Smells of desperation to be seen to be getting someone after years of telling us about our war chest and not getting anyone to come .

Playing a very good game & covering the ground well if your out for a few games injured does that mean your automatically cooked?Looks to me would provide much needed leadership & knows what success looks like!As long as we don’t give up our first rounder!

Judging on today’s game he would be a great pickup as long as we don’t use our first pick.

s://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/sydney-s ... 0c52c25386
"ST KILDA will be asked to trade its prized first-round draft pick — probably No.3, 4 or 5 — as part of a deal to secure Dan Hannebery.
The Saints would receive back Sydney’s first-round pick — currently No.13 — under the potential trade, according to figures familiar with negotiations.
Under the AFL’s draft points index, the exchange of first-round picks would mean St Kilda would effectively “pay” the equivalent of a pick in the 20s for the premiership Swan.
Sydney could also ask for a sweetener, such as a future pick, given the Saints have deemed the midfielder worthy of a contract until 2022 or 2023."
Are we that stupid?
Probably.

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
We need a midfield general that can lead and Hanners could be it. I look forward to potentially seeing him run around in the RW & B next year.
Saints and Lethers just need to be smart in how we can get him whilst still keeping our early pick. There are plenty of ways to do this. Its very early days.

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
Trade down an early pick for a 27 yr old with key injuries and we should fold.
Seriously dumb
Yeah we need leadership but not at the price of a prized and painfully win high draft pick in a super draft. Just dumb
How good Sydney at knowing when to jettison a favourite son??? See we just do t have the scrouples to do that. IF as rumoured the Tigers we’re offering up 9 for Armo a few years back....I said it then.....I’d have done that. But no
Love how the “saints leadership group led by Geary” want to talk to Lethlean about the “influence” recruiting in a senior player like Hannebery could have.....news flash Gears.....you ain’t exactly covering yourself in glory bud
Also enjoyed Richos comment “some things senior coach doesn’t know about....this is S Lethleabs area”
Richo left out that he’s also not across:
- match day moves - now outsourced to the box while he pats player bums in the bench
- selection - now outsourced to the club cleaner cause how else do u explain it!!
- Development - !?
- List Management ?

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
Halftime and big surprise slow Hanners has stunk it up in the same way he has for two seasons. Can’t get near it. Zero evidence of gut running but instead a demonstration of how he fails to get to contest after contest.
Worse, watching it with a room filled with Swans supporters all of whom of course are embarrassed but gleeful at the prospect of gettinv anything at all for him, leg alone palming off his 800k for the next three years.

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
Its his 2nd game back after a long lay off and he would not be completely match fit for obvious reasons. The 2nd game back is harder than the first.Hemi Baxter wrote: ↑Sat 18 Aug 2018 7:05pm Halftime and big surprise slow Hanners has stunk it up in the same way he has for two seasons. Can’t get near it. If he is fit, he is easily in our best and starting midfield. End of story.
