St Kilda have made an aggressive bid to lure West Coast free agent ruckman Scott Lycett.
The Saints, who also are making a strong bid to acquire Sydney star Dan Hannebery on a four-year deal with a trigger, are understood to have made Lycett a substantial, long-term offer.
Lycett, who turns 26 in September, also has a strong contract offer on the table from the Eagles, his currency having risen following the second knee reconstruction to West Coast’s superstar ruckman Nic Naitanui, who will miss most of 2019.
Lycett is also being courted by Port Adelaide, whose primary ruckman Patrick Ryder has been troubled by an achilles injury. Lycett, who hails from South Australia and played for Port Adelaide in the SANFL, is a restricted free agent.
Lycett’s ability to play as a forward, in concert with his ruckwork, is part of the appeal for the Saints and Power. While he is a South Australian, St Kilda can offer him the certainty of being their first-choice ruckman.
At the very least it will piss off the Weagles who will be desperate to keep Lycett whilst Nick Nat is on the sidelines with injury. The Weagles will be forced to pay 'overs'. Ha ha

Good move, if true.
How does a restricted FA work?
The Eagles would get the opportunity to match our offer. If they do he stays, if they don't he's ours.
A ruckman shouldn't be at the top of our list. Perhaps it's a plan to force eagles to pay overs for lycett to restrict what they can pay Gaff.
Also think Nic nat comes out of contact next year, so after mcgovern they may be under cap pressure.

Reported for baiting.
You can just report without also writing it dude, but seriously that post is pretty light on the report scale… I'm just asking if you have heard any mail as you often mention that you have some.

You haven't heard any whispers on lycett?
Nope.
Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud
In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and the St Kilda FC

That’s strange!!! Why would we make a play for Lycett, if the coaching staff are so happy with Billy Longer and the players feel so safe with him?
To shake others out. He will most lilkely stay, as Eagles will probably match the bid, because Nic Nat is won't be playing for a fair bit of 2019.

The ploy is to increase the Eagles' cap (by keeping Lycett)... thereby forcing their hand on A. Gaff
I wondered when we were going to make a move on Lycett...the club would have been kicking itself when Nic Nat went down again, as Scott's currency would have gone up 50% overnight. At the very least, as noted, any moves on Lycett will put the squeeze on Gaff dealings, or vice versa. In desperate need of a decent ruck, so fills a void there. Worst Coast still have a number of lower light and rookies in ruck (although one's in a spot of bother with the law currently), as well as Vardy (when he's not injured), and we've got at least 2 they can have!
I'd love to see some karma for their shifty Cripps and Brown dealings if nothing else.

My guess there is what is said to the public and what is said behind closed doors. I.e. are they really happy with Hickey, Longer, Piece or do they just say they are to keep up appearances
