Captain
Surely next year we could get ourselves a new Captain. Leave Geary in leadership group.

Re: Captain
He has to go - because all the talk from the club sticking by Richo keeps pointing the finger at on field leadership - buck stops with the captain on that one.

Re: Captain
My comment is just about the club coming out very publicly and vocally ( according to my memory of the events of the last month or so) putting specific blame onto the on field leadership - if they are saying that I dont see how they can retain the captain - as for your question its a tough one - maybe Ross, maybe Steven (2 years while one of the kids stamps his name on it ?), carlisle ? membrey ?

Re: Captain
Agreed. Although before Dylan had his scare I would have voted for him. Has great qualities, has hardly played a poor game in the last 2 -3 seasons. Has a lot of respect from his peers. Is comfortable on camera. I think the cap would fit well.

Re: Captain
Ross or Carlise for mine. Been really impressed with Carlise this year. He's really showing some maturity and leadership around the club and he's had a fantastic season. Cant be easy for him but gives his all most weeks.

Re: Captain
Carlisle in a heartbeat. I want a Captain with a lot of on-field C U Next Tuesday in him. I also want him to be a gun player so I’m not embarrassed by my Captain’s skills and decision making anymore. Over it.
Go you red, black & white warriors

Re: Captain
Ross? Errrrrrr not on THIS season’s form. Sorry, but Geary has to be persevered with.

Re: Captain
Well he's not your man then. What makes you think he's got any mongrel in him?
He's one of our best players and definitely a class player. He's also a sook and is lazy. Drops his head when things aren't going his way. He would be one of the last players I would want captain. It's a HUGE no from me.

Re: Captain
WHAT? I got totally bagged for suggesting Carlisle for Captain a few months ago.
I agree with you... but the idea that everyone hated recently seems to be gaining traction.
Carlisle will give us that 'Hamill as Captain' feel. I can't wait (and we won't have to keep picking Geary, who hasn't hit a target by foot all year).

Re: Captain
New president, new coach & new captain. Change things up on all lines.
Empower our young generation coming through. Rotating captains. Next year Ross to captain, he’ll relish the role. The following year Jack Steele.

Re: Captain
A few years ago we could have named half a dozen worthy candidates.....now we struggle for a single one.
Which means, as well as not developing talent, Richo also fails to develop leadership.
The only other guy in the mix might be Tim Membrey?
Focused, tries hard, good skills.

Re: Captain
Who is captain is our least issue atm. The questions are who is directing football around the ground? Who is standing up and not taking crap? Who is actually showing leadership and taking responsibility?
From where I sit no one is doing any of this, or at least effectively. Coach has ultimate responsibility here, and well, can he turn it around? I don't know but it's becoming untenable
I think the dysfunction might be as a result of many key 'outs' throughout the year, but that just provides opportunity. Opportunity to lead.

Re: Captain
Geary would be a great captain if the coach worked out a strategy to avoid him getting the ball.
It's not his job. Not his speciality. He's not good at it.
Yet opposition coaches keep isolating him, forcing him to be the loose man and our coaches do nothing to mitigate it.

Re: Captain
Is a designated captain necessary? Coin toss what else, pregame huddle gee up, spokesman for the players? On the field personality and presence seems to trump any official appointment however the current side doesn't seem to have many A type personalities. Might make them nice guys with no hypertension but AR is looking for a Horatius. Gresham?

Re: Captain
Perhaps the Captaincy could be offered to a top shelf recruit or Goddard as mentioned earlier.
