Is it time to put aside past differences and get GT back to our club?

Only problem is he pots the AFL aggressively at will now on his podcast and Twitter, plus his dealings with them in the past. I agree with nearly everything he says, but there can only ever be one winner when you pot the AFL from clubland....

GT. Lol. No way Jiggers.

Its like taking a Sherman tank into WW3. It was good in the day, but its now well past it and obsolete.

Yeah well maybe we SHOULD stop taking it up the old khyber pass from the AFL for a change!

He'd be outstanding.

For starters, we'd become immediately relevant. He is, after all, somebody who understands the heart and soul of the club.

Let's end the vanilla days. Time to ramp up what this club is really about.

Why do we always want to go back to the past....

It's because that's only what we know.

One of my favorite analogies is the rear view mirror and windscreen sizes.

They are proportionate for how much time you should spend looking forward and looking back.

I think it’s relevant when discussing the op.

It’s like rekindling with an old girlfriend from 2006, it was great back then but there was a reason you broke up.

As a coach no. In a Neil balme role. Definitely yes. We need no more yes men to the AFL and we need someone to call a spade a spade.

Part of Richos demise was when we gave to to Marc Murphy. Probably instructed by Richo himself then he leaves us out to dry in the media.

In a Neil Balme role, maybe, thought it's difficult to imagine any coach feeling comfortable with him
looking over their shoulder. Also difficult to imagine GT recognising the parameters of his role.
And the AFL hate him, jeopardising perhaps our AFL subsidies. So on balance ... I can't see it working.

I love GT - really rate the guy... his fatal flaw however is that he simply can’t play well with others and let them do their jobs / bring their expertise.

That my friends is a critical / fatal flaw.

GT did so much for st.kilda than you can imagine.
He wasnt liked by particular people within the st.kilda sanctum at the time.
Same applied to stan alves.
Its ashame, its just typical of st.kilda to have all this BS within the club that effects the playing group.

I liked his stance too...but we didn't get a free kick for about 4 years...Whispers, Siren-Gate, any opportunity we were royally screwed. It would happen again the second he stepped in the door (of course, nowhere near a coaching role). Given we've been stacked by AFL HQ, that would never happen anyway.

Perhaps we’re too keen to embrace the negatives surrounding GT, rather than be prepared to let bygones be bygones and welcome the positive qualities that GT could bring to the club. I do understand however, the divisive opinions that accompany this larger than life character. I for one, would LOVE to see the guy given another shot at contributing to the club he obviously loves.

Is this part of your post worth deeper consideration and does it apply to how some supporters are feeling about Richo.

I've posed this question in other threads in the context of agreeing with the decision to stick with Richo for 2019 and possibly beyond.

Clearly a lot was going right up until this season so why not exlpore the question, 'what was club and coach doing right leading up to this season?'.

Would love to see him on the board, maybe even as President.
His footy and business knowledge is a rare mix.

And he wouldn't be afraid to speak up when we are shafted unlike the recent lapdog Presidents.
