Words fail me
Trying to describe my feelings in the wake of last night’s “game” (?) is beyond me at the moment. I’m numb. Just SO over it all

Re: Words fail me
I once went to three 100 point beltings in a row once and I do not feel as down as I do now.
I am not sure whether it is because I was just younger and more positive then, or whether I just see that our club is just doing so many things wrong now with little sign that any of that will change because we have the blind leading the blind.

As Roger Waters once sang: “I have become.....comfortably numb” I honestly felt, in almost twenty years a member of the St Kilda footy club, that I’d never reach a stage where I felt like giving it away......... but in the wake of THAT display, feel as though I’m DONE.

Re: Words fail me
Fans will forgive almost anything as long as their team is competitive. But there was little sign of that in
the 3rd quarter capitulation. Harks back to the dimmest days of the reigns of Scott Watters, Tim Watson
and even Ken Sheldon. Members around me on level 3 all unhappy, and puzzled why the output was
so poor.

Pathetic (ahem) “ effort “(?) in that third quarter. That was enough to get me on the way home.

Let's aim to get pick 3 and then sack Richardson

Re: Words fail me
For a raft of reasons had moved on from this Forum
But, last night being the first game I have attended since May and no coverage whilst at the World Cup hence looking at this site? I wondered what the response on here would be
From those who appear to have some experience and knowledge
My view was that we were not competitive from Hickey going down and Acres (!!!!) into the ruck with 4 centre bounces, 4 easy clearances and 4 run in goals so the momentum shift we could not contain
Then there was the straight line with Ross standing the Goal Umpire and Geary waving his arms around
Ross had actually hit the scoreboard for the first time this season - and look where he was Number 4 for them promptly taking us apart
And, as I have put on here, Membrey is a 3rd or 4th forward at 188cm - and what happended absent McCartin, Bruce and Battle?
Then they allow Geary space - because it is a given the ball will be turned over within 30 metres And he is Richardson’s Captain
And if anyone thinks Webster is class and has lethal run and disposal skills, last night was your answer - again
Acres was sore, hardly able to get to his feet after a F50 spoil but he soldiered on and had damaging disposal to compliment his skills in getting the ball in contests
Freeman got thru - and will improve because after the first quarter and a bit and Hickey down we created no space - so our top heavy midfield and our average flankers
I said to my son on Friday night that we have been beaten at the selection table and instead of selecting a side to win by having height options thru Marshall we have chosen a side to not lose by competing the game plan of the opposition - and where we just do not have the cattle starting with Armitage, Steele and Dunstan when the game has moved on from inside mids who contribute nothing on the outside
Absent Hickey continuing to feed them (and move around the ground winning possessions and contributing) they just could not get the job done
Lessons need to be learnt - and quickly
Hopefully the necessary changes are now in prospect courtesy of people who direct then lead by example
The Head Coach and his Captain should be gone - from tomorrow so the decks are clear for the new brigade
Farewell!!
And keep taking the blood pressure tablets - although it is only the winter sport of the dysfunctional cartel which is AFL
St Kilda are a pawn to the Cartel

Re: Words fail me
Shortest retirement ever, Hickey was getting beaten by a couple of non-ruckman, his mistake caused them to kick the first of three quick goals and started their momentum!!!!!
Yes, we did miss a Ruck presence, but have done since Tom has been playing!!!!!

Scott Watters won 17/44 = 39%.philtee wrote: ↑Sun 05 Aug 2018 12:43pm Fans will forgive almost anything as long as their team is competitive. But there was little sign of that in

Ken Sheldon 48/89 = 54%.
Alan Richardson = 37/107 = 34% ...
....and trending downwards.

Stone cold, you are a repetitive <edited by mods> with the intellect of your average stobie pole - and a reason threads reintroduced identify those who no longer contribute to this site which, due to you and some others, no longer contribute
Hickey was the dominant St Kilda player until reluctantly limping off in the second quarter - and there is no comparison between him and Longer
Enjoy your life, <edited by mods.

Re: Words fail me
That's a strange summary of the game. Hickey was arguably our best player before getting injured. Once he went off we went completely to pieces.
