He would have been guaranteed this game.
But Marshall was taken as a rookie when McCartin was taken as a No1 draft pick.
Rookies don't get the same chances even though everyone is equal after they are recruited.
When you are a first round pick you get more chances because the powers that be are reluctant to admit to a mistake.
Too true

Is this the first time Coffield and Clark played together? I seem to think they have been swapping for each other a lot.....

No they have played together before. He is a jinx by the way :D

I don't think he has ever sung the song at the end of the game

Don't blame the new recruits.
Everyone knows it is Tony Abbott's fault.

Coffield and Clark have got plenty of senior and VFL games into them this year which is a massive bonus. The club has handled them well and not flogged them in their first year which can ruin a kid's career. I like the fact they haven't really got injured (not that I know of) which shows they have some durability. That always helps to become a good regular player.

They are only going to get better folks and were great pickups. Lets hope we can get another gun in this draft. Please come down to Moorabbin Bailey Smith.

Will we see him play again?
If he announces his retirement, last round and I wouldn't begrudge him that.
Absolutely. Gilbo's been a warrior. The last of the class of 09/10.

A shame he hasn't been able to get a good run at it this year and recapture something closer to his best.
Armitage was there too. Steven as well.

Love The Gilbo, but I'm afraid his time might be up. A great warrior for our Club.
Still a damn good player, too. If we were in the window he’d be a required player next season.

Gilbert's the last member of the GF sides remaining. The others were on the list but didn't play in the GF.

Marshall didn't exactly set the world on fire last week, but I reckon he's an ideal 2nd ruck. Not sure who has that role now, as Gilbert would have been my next choice.
About half the posters on this forum questioned the omission of Marshall, and in particular who would be the backup Ruckman if needed.

Criticizing the selectors with the benefit of hindsight is really not fair. Fact is a major reason we lost that game is because Hickey went down and there was no bloody backup ruckman. If the coach and his selection panel think Acres is an adequate back up ruck, then I'm going to seriously question the football knowledge of that coach and his selection panel. Objectively, it's time for this coach and his selection panel to move on and let somebody else have a go.
