I disagree.

Brown and Carlisle are solid - the rest are error and turnover machines.

It's demoralising.

But didn't Trout go from recruiter to list manager when Bains moved?

"In this year's disappointing season the review of the club identified the state of St Kilda's list as more responsible than the coaching department"

Trying to work out what means in that article from The Age newspaper. Responsible for what?

I would assume for "this year's disappointing season" as the sentence says?

Is Jamie Cox still at the club?

If so, what’s his role?

Interestingly, at the end of 2014 we were back slapping each other down at Moorabbin for our awesome list management.

Finnis was all over Bains and Elshaugh.

http://m.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-27/st- ... odd-couple

In 2015, Bains promoted Trout from recruiter to list manager.

2 years later, our list management is to blame for our suckiness.

Given we recruited Coffield, Clark, Long and Battle since then - we have to assume the bad list management Lethlean has identified happened when Bains was list manager?

It's a massive whack to Bains, who rode his glowing reputation into a top role at the Dogs, but it's also a massive whack to Finnis and his judgement really.

Easy way to distract blame from signing a Senior coach mid season last year unnecessarily ?

It has a moneyball feel about it which I like. Don't be surprised if we draft in some players that other clubs have been overlooked and then turn into great decisions

Firstly, Lethlean surely won't stay in his current role for much longer will he? COO of the AFL to footy manager at a small club is a huge fall from grace.

But secondly, the List Manager isn't the Head of Recruiting. The two roles are, and as far as I'm aware always have been separate. And the Head of Recruiting always reports in to the List Manager. So nothing new there is there?

The intriguing part, is why 'list management' rather than recruiting was targeted as the problem?

We haven't lost any players, and don't have salary cap issues?

Maybe the age demographic of the List that I've been crapping on about for a while has been identified as the problem?
Well we were left with a huge leadership vacuum upon the retirements of Riewoldt, Montagna & Dempster. That's down to List management.

I’m a Mortgage Broker and had a bit to do with him. Very organised, very astute and commercial. Certainly doesn’t over promise or under deliver. Overall, very impressed by him. I have no idea on the footy knowledge side of things.

Cheers,

They are currently sacking coaches...at least 2. So it will be interesting to see how they move players on then because they are responsible. Who is accountable for the current state of the list then?

Lets give Gallagher a chance. He has played bucketloads of high level footy at both Norwood and Adelaide. He obviously has alot of high level business sense too. Combine the two and its the perfect background for a list manager. Lethlean has made a good decision here.

I wasn't pointing the finger at Trout specifically. Just that it wasn't well planned.

I'm lost - is it up to the list manager to pick the players or write their contracts? If the latter, you beauty! If the former - wtf?
