Re: Jack Higgins ‘goal’
Higgins went pick 18 while Coffield was pick 8. 9 teams skipped him before he got to the Tigers.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Sat 28 Jul 2018 9:49pmIt a good debate to have but I would have picked him over Coffield. Not saying Coffield wont be a gun, he looks like he will be but we need some one who will kick goals rather than another HBF. Jack Higgins was the best at U18 for a reason and I would have picked him and Hunter clark as Hunter is already in the midfield which we need . Coffield will be an awesome defender and I am not unhappy with him but we have so many HBF and no small up forward that is kicking goals like Higgins.Gershwin wrote: ↑Sat 28 Jul 2018 9:39pmSo should we have drafted him instead of Clark or Coffield ?DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Sat 28 Jul 2018 9:36pmYes I agree. I said that at the time of the draft, The kid won the equivalent of the Brownlow for u 18 and he west at pick 19. Tigers would be killing themselves with laughter
Coffield isn’t just a HBF; he will hopefully play in the midfield at some stage.

Re: Jack Higgins ‘goal’
The punt kicker in US Gridiron typically throws the ball up then kicks, similar to Higgins. Higgins intention was very clearly to kick the ball, not throw it to a teammate.
If a St Kilda player kicked that goal, I'd be delighted. Definitely goal of the week,

We are in good company - most other clubs passed up on him as well, otherwise he would have gone a lot earlier.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Sat 28 Jul 2018 9:36pmYes I agree. Re: Jack Higgins ‘goal’
They made a good point on the Offsiders; if it was a player laying on his back and he threw it up to kick it, which you see a bit, no one says anything.

Goal of the year, he threw it to himself.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

It's whatever the umpire says it was or wasn't.
If it had of been deemed a throw, we wouldn't be talking about it.
Great effort and creative but he probably did it at training all the time when he was supposed to be studying.

You can't throw a ball to yourself.

One thing is for certain,
if it had been kicked by one of our players over in Perth the umpire would have disallowed it!

Bunch of sour-pusses on here. Great goal, great highlight, what AFL needs.
Check out the 59 minute mark, any complaints?
