Expect Acres and Freeman to get (re) injured playing against hacks in the VFL.
Don't be too positive there.
They have to play somewhere this week if they are get in the seniors. There is more chance of a bloke getting injured in the AFL compared the VFL.
stop just attacking people for having a point of view
you write stuff just to be contrary
they could just as easily be injured at training - see its easy to be contrary
fact remains we need to see if freeman is up to AFL standard rather than "gifting" him ANOTHER contract
he has been in consistent good form at VFL level - last week was his big opportunity against blues

In fairness, playing Freeman last week would not have told us if he was AFL standard, more likely if he could play well against an average team in the Maryborough/Castlemaine League.

Personally I see that as another lost opportunity when compared to repetitively playing an average Mav Weller, who was slightly better against the bottom side but still only managed one goal - his 4th goal for the year in 11 matches.
Same goes for White, Coffield etc, who could probably really do with some confidence of playing in a win.

maybe - but then the reverse would be true for our entire list this week

Freeman will probably get a gig the next 2 weeks. More likely against the Dogs.

If you can watch a Sandy game. You will see who should be picked and there are a few ahead of Freeman. I think he will get a game but this should be his last year unless we redraft him as a rookie. He is a serviceable inside mid at VFL level who is not that quick and needs work on his defense.
Acres coffield need to play more than Freeman at present and next year we get half a dozen players back from injury and a potential draft pick ready day one. I don't like his chances

A fair summary DJH. I reckon he will get another year as a rookie whether he debuts or not.
Hypothetical. Is Freeman ever going to be any better than a Dom Sheed from the Eagles or Anthony Miles from the Tigers? At least we know these guys can play the game and are simply struggling for game time in 2 x top 4 sides. Why don't we recruit these 2 x mids and give them a crack at it.

But this gets to the crux of the problem
We need to see what he can do now not give another year contract
If we can fill his list spot with another serviceable depth player next then we need to pull the trigger on him

Weller has clearly had his best two games in the last two weeks for 2 years. So why would he get dropped now
18 possessions against port
15 (@86% disposal efficiency ,3 rd best for the team) and 7 tackles v blues
I had him just outside our best last week,
I suspect some of you just get a mind set and can't actually see when things change
fqf
Plays against a quality opponent
11 possessions... 4 tackles and a goal

Still can not understand why weller gets a game....shocking again today
Newnes, Billings and Ross were pretty poor as well. Ross couldn’t hit a target by foot to save himself.
Lonie played well but missed too many shots on goal.

Freeman got 37 possessions yesterday and kicked a goal. I watched Sandy on TV and the commentators raised the questions of whether the selection policy was fair given the season St. Kilda have had so far.
Long looked a bit rusty, but I'd like to see him back in the seniors against the 'Dogs Saturday night given that this is our last realistic chance of a win this season.

I think you mean Freeman. On the telecast Hamill said Freeman doesn't do enough defensively.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Edited for accuracy.
And yes, I heard Hamill say that. Still, don't know if that's entirely consistent with what we've seen this season at senior level though, and neither did the commentators.

Wonder what he would have said about Newness after round 6 when he had a total of 7 tackles for the season? Or yesterday Savage whole game with 0 tackles, newness, Dunstan, Lonie Coffield membrey , Carlisle, (1), . No pressure out of forward line - most tackle Billings (5), Marshall(4) . How does Marshall at FF have more tackles than 3/4 of the team.
