These stats might help in understanding what it's like to play as a defender in a team down the arse end of the ladder.
I think Jimmy's a keeper.

Replaceable with others on our list and reckon Newnes has hit his ceiling.
Webster still has upside so would possibly add to his trade appeal.
Newnes butchers the ball and l think has no real feel for the game.
We need to get back into the draft and we don't have too many attractive options.
These two may help.

Webster is far better than Rice.
Actually think Webster is very good, occasionally his kicking can be off, but it can also be very sharp.
I also think Newnes is a very good player as well, I feel he's getting back into form the last four weeks.
I also think Billings is a gun. Similar to Newnes, last four weeks have been good.
But if it was up to people on SS, everyone would be delisted or traded....

Re: Jimmy Webster
It's just a discussion piece....we have a top 5 pick and a 50 something pick. We won't get a free agency so we have to package something up to get either players or draft picks. The alternative is we draft a youngster with our top 5 pick who plays at Sandy and doesn't / can't impact for a couple of years (if at all based on recent drafting) and then a speculative pick with our 50-ish pick.
So 2019 becomes another year like this season....I understand (hope) there is some development with our younsters but you could say the same for all other clubs and their younsters developing.
So the status quo remains with our list because we didn't move anyone of our 15 back flankers on. I quite like Webster but you have to give to get....we need some quality mids with some pace and kicking ability. Between Coffield, Savage, Roberton(?), White, Rice et al surely Webster could be dangled as trade bait...we have coverage in this area of the ground.
Anyway, good to chat and speculate.

Re: Jimmy Webster
Two speculative chat points - Is Jimmy W becoming rather injury prone, an ongoing troublesome groin? and 2019 may be better if only because AR will then just have that and 2020 at the most before he is released with an undisputed record and a dim light at the end of his long coaching tunnel. However with bad behaviour fans may get him an early release. (Surely 7 years of no finals under one coach is sufficient biblical like punishment for whatever the club has done. Mercy.)

Honestly, he is a poor decision maker and not a great kick. I couldn't believe Lethlean said he was close to A-grade. Not even close.
His game has improved a little but no more. Given all the hype, if we got a good offer at trade week, I'd snap their hand off. We have 15 players on our list like him.
Watched him closely again tonight, hits some kicks well, and showed courage on that spoil, but makes so many errors.
I think he is a very sloppy AFL player.
Wrong way round in my opinion.
Disagree with this. Rate Webster very highly. Create play, is defensive and is a great kick.
Savage on the other hand is the most one dimensional footballer on our list. Runs in straight lines, turns the ball over and gets the ball handed to him.

Re: Jimmy Webster
Interesting - I usually think you're on the money, Spinner. Agree to disagree on this one.
It's clear that Webster has improved (obviously), but I still see deficiencies in his game that mean he won't get near elite. There seems to be some hype about him right now and I'd be pretty damn tempted to cash in while he has value. We are over-stockpiled and he doesn't have that much more value to us than others who play in similar positions, IMO.
I know some think Savage bombs away, but I also think we could - with a more dynamic forward line - take advantage of that penetration.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Re: Jimmy Webster
Not negativity, people hate getting disagreed with when their only knowledge of something is to get a bunch of stats off a website that could mean anything. Especially handballing and kicking to each other 4 or 5 times in the backline under no pressure at 100% efficiency but spilling the ball in the middle of the ground and costing a goal when they are under pressure. You need to get more knowledge of how a player uses the ball before you go quoting stats and then crying when someone disagrees with you.
Stats are very misleading and you therefore overate the player in question...being a St kilda supporter has nothing to do with it. Let me know after tonight how he goes with 80% efficiency against the Tigers, hope he kicks 6 and that will be a true stat and I wont disagree with that.
