Re: No acres....

Why would you change a winning team when he wasn’t knocking the door down at Sandy, and probably needs another week.

Re: No acres....
As much as I would love to have Acres in the team I actually think they’ve made the right decision, 5 days just wasn’t long enough for a bloke that’s missed 3 months of footy.
I think they might have realised this kid will be our best player by the end of 2019, bar none.

It's not that so much...terry smith rules wrote: ↑Thu 19 Jul 2018 9:42pm Weller has clearly had his best two games in the last two weeks for 2 years. So why would he get dropped now
18 possessions against port

I had him just outside our best last week,
I suspect some of you just get a mind set and can't actually see when things change

he's been average for a long time and really is not getting any better despite the sustained perseverance...
As you've pointed out that's been his best games for 2 yrs... hardly anything to write home about. And "not too bad" is hardly a ringing endorsement
Meanwhile guys like White, Rice, Phillips, etc get flung at the drop of a hat.
I'm tired of us trying the same thing over and over again. Exactly what does he add to the team that puts him above scrutiny

Devonport and Weller have the same body type so that's in Craig's favor.

Gaff is a free agent so there will be no trade if he leaves for any club.bigcarl wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:11pmIs it the swap him for Gaff plan?IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 2:53pmI have this awful feeling that you may be right....The_President wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 1:16am Mark this in your book.

Acres isn't going anywhere and is contracted for another 2 years I think. He signed a 5 year deal in his 2nd or 3rd year from memory. The kid is just recovering from a 3 month lay off. He will be back when in form and fully fit. No point risking him at the end of the year against the best side in the comp at the moment. Makes sense.

Re: No acres....
If this happens the club can get well and truely f***ed, this kid will be an A Grade player. It’s no good getting Gaff in if we have to give away any of our top end talent.bigcarl wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:11pmIs it the swap him for Gaff plan?IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 2:53pmI have this awful feeling that you may be right....The_President wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 1:16am Mark this in your book.

Re: No acres....
Don't be too positive there.
They have to play somewhere this week if they are get in the seniors. There is more chance of a bloke getting injured in the AFL compared the VFL.

Re: No acres....
Totally agree about not risking him. No point. I just have this feeling that he is looked at as "trade value" and I feel the club may be ruthless at years end.parkeysainter wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:29pmGaff is a free agent so there will be no trade if he leaves for any club.bigcarl wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:11pmIs it the swap him for Gaff plan?IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 2:53pmI have this awful feeling that you may be right....The_President wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 1:16am Mark this in your book.

This thread is such rubbish -he is coming back from a very long injury and being groin he would have done very little running for weeks.IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:43pmI just feel he is on the outer and one of few players that have some trade value.bigcarl wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:11pmIs it the swap him for Gaff plan?IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 2:53pmI have this awful feeling that you may be right....The_President wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 1:16am Mark this in your book.

Re: No acres....
Why would we name a player as an emergency if they aren't fit enough to play?
He was in our best 5 players this year before getting injured… if he's fit he should be a walk up start, not getting dicked around in the VFL.

My fears around Acres has nothing to do with him not being selected this week. TBH I agree with his non selection.longtimesaint wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:47pmThis thread is such rubbish -he is coming back from a very long injury and being groin he would have done very little running for weeks.IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:43pmI just feel he is on the outer and one of few players that have some trade value.bigcarl wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 4:11pmIs it the swap him for Gaff plan?IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 2:53pmI have this awful feeling that you may be right....The_President wrote: ↑Fri 20 Jul 2018 1:16am Mark this in your book.

I have heard that the club will be keen to trade into the draft this year, and looking at the list there a very few players that have value to do so.
I also note that the poor kid has been asked to play every position under the sun and it appears that the Coaching staff are a bit lost as to what to do with him.
Noting that he has a large amount of value, is from WA (not saying he wants to go home but maybe wouldn't be against it if it was suggested) and the Coaching staff can't decide how to use him, I fear he may be one who is traded out by the end of the year. 100% Do not want this to happen. My son has #8 on his jumper for gods sake. Let's not even get into how scared I am to have that conversation with a youngster who has a teddy called Blacres.
