Surely Gold Coast will take the big guys if they're losing both Lynch and May?

Not that we were going to win in Adelaide based on history it is nice to see rankine in some fine form. He may slip to four or five but not much further.

1. Gold Coast - Lukosious
2. Gold Coast - Rankine
3. StKilda - Walsh
4. Carlton - who cares

walsh or rankine please.
Although Walsh seems a bit vanilla. would rather rankine.
Walsh no go home factor though.
got the feeing Max King is who we'll pick even if we had pick 2.
We'll beat Carlton and the 'Dogs (both at Etihad). The rest are all pretty tough from here, especially with Bruce, Roberton, and Stevens out for the year, and you can probably add Longy to that list now too. I think the Lions will move above us, and the Suns are still a chance to finish above us too, as they're only two points behind us at present, but their injuries are as bad as ours making winning difficult. Remember that bottom sides often play their grand finals in August against sides they wouldn't normally have a chance in hell of beating. GWS fit that bill for us, for example.

Rankine does look good, but we desperately need midfielders who can step up in the now, such as Gaff or Shiels. We also probably do need the McGoverns as we have two players who may need to retire prematurely for their own well-being at the conclusion of this season, and Gilbo will probably retire or choose to play out the rest of his time at another club at the end of this season. If this worst case scenario does play out St. Kilda can't afford another three year rebuild.

EDIT: The Lions are making their move. Beat the Hawks at Launceston Oval today.
We'll account for the 'Dogs in a few weeks at Docklands though.

We would be ahead of the dogs on percentage if the Carlisle free against the Giants had been paid.

Dogs are in freefall, as are Fremantle. Both teams really struggling and I cant see them winning too many, if any

Brisbane will win more games
We are in reasonable form and should win some more

We could end as low as pick 7, assuming GC get two pics before us. We wont catch Bombers who have some winable games
1 Carl
2 GC
3 GC
4-6 Bris-WB-Freo
7 Saints

the thing about pick 7 is that it is the range where one of the King twins may well be best available.

IMO deviating from bet available is bad tactics, although saints seem to have prioritised needs in its recruiting (one of our problems and why we dont have stars)

Heard the Saints are really keen on the Sandringham Dragons kid in Bailey Smith. He has everything you want in a midfielder - speed, run, endurance, possession winner, performer, skills, goal kicker, competitor, tackler. He is a local kid also so to speak which would help him progress being based at Moorabbin.

Walsh should go before we have a selection. Same as Rankine. So I reckon we will take and be getting Bailey Smith.

Looks like pick 3 to 5.

Winner of Saints v Dogs will have a big bearing on where.

Saints to have a chance of winning against Dogs, Dons and Hawks. The Dogs match the most likely win.

Its the "Pick 3-5 Cup" when we play the Dogs.

If Gold Coast comes 17th, which is on the cards, and they lose Tom Lynch which is also on the cards, they will have picks two and three.

One would assume we would be into Smith... local lad etc and top 5 prospect

The question is where our pick ends up and whether he is still there if we have pick 6.

My expectation is that we would love one of the top two midfielders Walsh or Smith, but that we expect Walsh to be gone

Alot can depend on how these kids perform post championships. I would love Smith, but its hard to know what the clubs will do before us do or if Adelaide comes into the mix for Lucozade or Rankine.

Carltank will have pick 1, Gold Coast will have picks 2 & 3 a result of free agency, Brisbane has the form to win another game and overtake us but that only delivers pick 4.
If we get a bit overexcited we could finish above Brisbane and the Mongrels delivering pick 6.
Richo it is time to find out what the guys at Sandringham have got to provide in the senior team.

Spot on, but we could get pick 6 if we win more games and now Lynch seems destined to leave.

'Dogs still a slight chance to finish below us though, because we'll beat 'em.

Unless we get full blown regime change it really doesnt matter what draft picks we get.
