Re: Team v Blues
Good ins overall. Lets get around the side regardless tomorrow night.
Acres will be fully ready next week we can assume. Same as Freeman next week or the one after. Good to see Phillips and Marshall get another go at it and some runs on the board.
I also think Lonie might have a good night out. He will want to!

Re: Team v Blues
Why all the angst?
On the whole the ins are good.
Lonie the only questionable one. But remember that the Blues are vulnerable against small forwards.

Safe to say White doesn’t have a high opinion of Richo lol.StPeter wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jul 2018 8:23pm Some excellent changes but not Lonie again!!!!!!!!!!
Surely Acres would be better and why isn't White given more of a go? If only he was given the chances that Lonie , Weller and Newnes get.
I am still not sure Phillips is up to it but worth another look I guess.
Imagine we kept playing white more and got performances like his one against port last year

I think everyone would like Acres back as soon as possible but we have to be realistic.milney044 wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jul 2018 8:35pm Seriously can someone please tell me what Newnes does each week to justify his selection? I am obviously missing something. Please, someone give me an explanation???
As for Acres, he is in our top 10 players (being generous to a few) and could easily argue top 5. Again, can someone please explain to me why you would have a player of this calibre spending another week in the twos? What other club does this with one of their best players?
I totally understand he's been out for many weeks...but he had 30 touches!! I think he's ok!!!
God, Diledio is coming back from injury, he's playing in the twos this week... i guarantee if he has 30 touches he'll be straight back in!!
The mind boggles, and this is before i even start on Freeman.
He has missed nearly three months with a groin injury and has played one VFL match with limited minutes.
It was also against the weakest side in Coburg ( they haven’t won a match).
The last thing we want is Acres to re-injure the groin with the far greater speed and intensity at AFL.
I think it is sensible to let him have another solid hit out at VFL with more game time and hopefully he will be ready to come back ready to go.
One year will be our year

Re: Team v Blues
I was keen for him to come straight in, but in reality the sports science and physio staff down at Moorabbin obviously thought he needed another run at Sandy. Its fair enough for them to make that call as on ability he is an instant selection. Acres probably agreed with them too.longtimesaint wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jul 2018 8:43pmI think everyone would like Acres back as soon as possible but we have to be realistic.milney044 wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jul 2018 8:35pm Seriously can someone please tell me what Newnes does each week to justify his selection? He played limited minutes and it was against the worst side in the VFL by a long way. He hasn't played for 3 months, obviously needs another run in the VFL

Re: Team v Blues
They could have at least dropped Weller right.
Stick Lonie in the pocket ahead of Weller, put Freeman on the bench...
Does that sound like worse off to anyone

Re: Team v Blues
We have to suck it up and lose if we want to get the number 2 draft pick.
Otherwise we may be looking at pick 5 after free agency.

Re: Team v Blues
So only Marshall as a tall up forward (with Membrey) and only Carlisle as a tall down back who can't cut off a kick as good as anyone but is a bit suss one on one. It's a very short side for under the roof.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

FINALLY!!! Someone has called out Newnes for the dud that he is.milney044 wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jul 2018 8:35pm Seriously can someone please tell me what Newnes does each week to justify his selection? I am obviously missing something. Please, someone give me an explanation???

The fact that Weller, Newnes, Savage and now Lonie is in the team is the last straw for me.... up until now I held out on Richo...I thought we should continue to support him, but this is it for me.
To leave out Freeman and Acres , and bring in Lonie, and keep Newnes....nope sorry Richo... time to move on. This is ludicrous!!
