Ins v Blues
In: Hickey
Marshall (need another tall forward to help Paddy and a 2nd ruck)
Acres (why not as he tore it up at Sandy)
Freeman (debut so lets do it against the bottom side)
Carlisle (if not fit then Goddard as would like to see how he goes in a few games)
Out: Longer (Hickey in better form right now)
Weller (try someone else please)
Wright (not up to it sorry)
Joyce (has great potential but needs to keep working on his game at Sandy for rest of season)
Gilbert (bit harsh but others are ahead of him now)

It’s been one of those years where we keep losing key players and we can’t get a settled team
One year will be our year

Re: Ins v Blues
More likely I would say Lonie to come in for Wright
Bucket loads of praise for Longer and Weller for completing their roles
A stern talking to for Newnes about his pressure and maybe somebody comes in for Joyce... knowing Richo, it won't be anyone based on form and certainly fitness won't factor in... errr I'm going to say Coffield finds his way into the team

A great opportunity to make it a team that may be close to our 2020 team. Not sure about Armo

Can’t see Weller going out. Coach loves him.
Savage is being played out of position.
Ins:
Coffield
Carslile
Hickey

Re: Ins v Blues
Carlisle and Battle if both recover
Past that players who had good numbers in the VFL
Interestingly that includes Goddard
But please not Lonie - all others over 20 touched tho
For the second week both Hickey and Marshall have had over 20 touches each - and near 50 between them so they obviously work together
Freeman had 8 kicks and 17 handballs so we would look to see that the other way around
Acres was 50% kicks - again needing to lift that percentage
Will we make the number of changes we need to make to inject some class and a better balance?
Because there needs to be plenty starting with a gaggle of the Coach’s favourites who bring what they bring and nothing more because that is their limit
Allowing Roberton and Long I would offer that only half of the side from Adelaide would survive in the interests of St Kilda improving
But it has to start at selection
To me the lack of balance in Adelaide and who was selected confirm Richardson is coaching for HIS future not the Club’s future
So the clean out is coming
Coffield did not get much of it which may tell against him

Re: Ins v Blues
Spot on although Sincs stays for mine. Needs to fix his kicking up though. For such a beautiful kick he's been off his tucker lately. Id like to see Connellan get a run also. We need some speed. Maybe for Newnes as he's been treading water. Gilbert is done also unfortunately. Reckon Clarke might get rested this week as he's played a few in a row. Coffield takes his place, if so. And can someone work out the Brandon White situation and get him on the park. Need to be getting games into the future not rehashing the past.older saint wrote: ↑Sun 08 Jul 2018 6:21pm Out: Joyce, Longer, Weller, Wright, Sinclair

Re: Ins v Blues
Well as Armo was just about our best player against PA he will be playing against the Blues. Though maybe not in 2020.resaintlee wrote: ↑Sun 08 Jul 2018 5:17pm A great opportunity to make it a team that may be close to our 2020 team. Not sure about Armo
Personally I believe now that Armo seems to be match fit he that he is playing good football again. Certainly ranks in front of many others.

Re: Ins v Blues
The App I use covers not only SANFL results and player statistics but also VFL statistics
Not that I am a believer in statistics per se but they are indicative at least
I note Connellan had 5 disposals and Coffield 11
Which are not statistics demanding promotion
Interesting that Goddard had 20 touches
Those positioning for promotion would be those with at least 20 disposals - except Lonie!
I am a believer that you select when in form including at VFL level hence looking at how much of the pill players got
VFL sides which are stand alone have mature bodies which pressure AFL affiliated sides because those AFL affiliated sides have their recently drafted contingent - so kids
Coburg being where they are on the ladder is put into some context v Sandringham and the players available
Then when the AFL side has injuries the pressure comes on because of top up players

we will smash carlton. im going to enjoy it.
Freeman just has to debut. ffs whats the problem??
Re: Ins v Blues
Joyce, Wright, Longer, Weller/Gilbo
Freezer (Has to play this is the perfect game for him), Hickey, Marshall and Goddard/Carlisle.
We aren't going anywhere in a hurry and this season is a 'Wright' off. Might as well get some games into Freeman and see how this 900k Investment is coming along because playing the wooden spooners this is the best game for Freeman then build him up and play him out the season. Be one of the best stories of the year to see him run out and would give us something to cheer for even if we have nothing to play for id much rather see Clark, Freezer and Gresham running around than seeing 3 blokes who cant actually kick a football in Wright, Gilbo and Longer. Hopefully, on the weekend the coaching staff finally saw that certain players just aren't up to the grade. I'm still not sold on Mckenzie but might as well find out what he can do with an extended run of games.

Re: Ins v Blues
Freeman has to play.
Deserves a game and needs one surely.
Agree fans need it too.
Goddard needs to come in for Levi matchup.
Cannot work out what coach sees in Weller, assume its defensive pressure but not enough for mine.
Joyce needs to go back and keep learning.
Wright needs another game, but if it's a choice for freeeman then he needs to go.
Acres if he is fit only, maybe another week

Re: Ins v Blues
The urgency by some supporters to see Nathan Freeman play is interesting. What if he isn't physically ready for AFL level yet?
I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get a game this year and the plan is to see him just play out at VFL level and then have a strong pre-season.
The club has invested so much in him, surely being conservative and patient is the smarter move.

If he doesn’t play this season I fear it’s over for him. If he deserves a game on VFL form, he should be picked.

Re: Ins v Blues
That would be surprising as he is EXACTLY the type of player we need to add to the team. Ithink the conservative approach is for that reason, that he is valued.bigcarl wrote: ↑Mon 09 Jul 2018 10:03amCairnsman wrote: ↑Mon 09 Jul 2018 9:37am The urgency by some supporters to see Nathan Freeman play is interesting. I think another breakdown would be more of an issue this season.

Give Acres another week at Sandy'
Freeman not sure needs a game or 2 this year has he done well enough?
I think anyone who probably wont be there next year shouldn't get a game

Re: Ins v Blues
'Valued' is the word that probably best describes how the club feels about Nathan and I'd only be guessing, however even though Nathan is starting to play well at VFL level, you'd have to also think they would have a plan in place to get him through a set number of games in the VFL and not pressuring him to make a senior debut by a deadline or be confronted with the possibility of being cut from the list. Again, only guessing, I reckon Nathan has at least one more season to prove he can make it, not withstanding a complete breakdown this season at VFL level, then he might have reason to be concerned if the body can't cope with VFL grade footy.Crossy66 wrote: ↑Mon 09 Jul 2018 10:06amThat would be surprising as he is EXACTLY the type of player we need to add to the team. Re: Ins v Blues
Freeman is ready. Play him ffs. What have we to lose.
I remember when the club refused to play Milne even though he was cutting it up in the reserves.
The call for him to be promoted became a roar, and the club relented.
He never looked back.
