What a last quarter from him on Saturday

I hope that this gives him the belief that he belongs in our best 22

He seems to have some great attributes, grabs a mark, hits the pack hard and runs all day

Actually I felt in the second quarter he could have been paid a mark (seemed to have purchase) that was taken away for a GC goal

I am also a fan of Dmac. He has good pace, which is what we need, and really has a go. The back flanks would be weapons with both him and Jimmy W in top form. His clangers seem to be reducing in number as well. Let's hope he has a good consistent run for the year.

Honestly thought he was a lost cause. Another guy with the best intentions but his limitations (lack of composure, fumbles etc.) would ultimately cost him a decent career, and another lost pick at the Saints.

But that's not right - he showed plenty on the weekend, and most importantly, showed some ticker when it was needed most. I now have the same attitude I had with Ben Long early in the season, once D-mac truly believes he deserves to play at the highest level, he could be really important for us. We just need to find his best position.

Agree with all those positives above, well said those men and women. AR made a point of telling him he done good, played strong, now AR give him a decent run in a settled role - he looks to have a lot more to offer than playing defensive at HB.

I read a post on here a while back that asked whether or not we'd look back on that draft one day as the turning point.

During the third quarter I could not find a single player that looked looked willing enough to stand up and grab the game by the throat. Early in the last quarter I could see McKenzie might be that player. When he goaled, you could see the whole team lift.

Of course the whole team lifted - we were less than a goal down then but we lifted well before then.

And I thought DMac also played great in the third quarter. They all did. We just couldn't put the score on the board in the 3rd.

I had major doubts - not sure I had written him off. Nothing would give me greater pleasure to see DMacs composure and dash continue to improve from now on.

He had some big moments late in the game that were crucial to us winning but he was also very ordinary in the first half. I'd love to see him make it but I don't think we can say he's turned his career around after a 13 disposal, 1 goal game. Nathan Wright has bobbed up for us in big moments of a few wins as well.

McKenzie was BOG in the 2014 TAC Cup Grand Final in Oakleigh's win against Calder

He apparently had some fairly injury issues earlier in that 2014 year but once fit he had a storming 2nd half of the year playing off half back

Kid is still young and has some great athletic traits and hopefully he can stay injury free and grow in confidence

I agree with the lack of composure and fumbles but always put it down to nervousness and inexperience. I'm still hopeful he can be a great player. He has shown glimpses. Only 25 games played in 4 years, but I would like to see how he goes stringing a few together and building confidence.
