25-11 "The Noise Of Affirmation" Raise this with Gill Richo.
This needs to called out Richo - there have been some very strange umpiring decisions and non-decisions out there tonight already, and we are still only in the first quarter.
There needs to be some accountability. Fortius Quo Fidelius - you need to stand up for the players on this, as do the leadership of the club.
Without the umpires there is no game - but clearly the noise of the crowd is having an impact on umpiring decisions. They need to be able to withstand the intimidation of the crowd. "The noise of affirmation".

Apparently it is now the man behind who gets the mark!

Clear in the back to gresham in the first minute simply ignored by the maggots.

Some dreadfully horrible decisions against us or missed first quarter. As though West Coast need the help!

Re: Umpiring in the West
Was always thus and will continue until umps making crowd calls in Perth for WC and Freo are dropped the following week. Compounding a mistake with a 50 penalty/goal is unacceptable.

Re: "The Noise Of Affirmation"
As a very neutral observer( I dislike both) I went to Port v Hawthorn in Launceston today. Port got absolutely shafted by the umpires , to a disgusting extent 12 50s to 1 apparently and many gift goals to Hawtorn and robberies of Port. Home team umpiring at its worst.

When did they cancel the kicking in danger rule?

Re: "The Noise Of Affirmation"
Its good that female umps can be equally poor in reacting to the affirmation factor. What has it been worth so far: Cripps a goal, Nat a goal, Gresham not a goal, goal after Rice was kicked in the ankle. It doesn't mean they are not a far better side but gee it makes it tough.

Re: "The Noise Of Affirmation"
The hometown frees are bad enough but I just don't understand how they seem to continually miss blatant free kicks to us? There's no 'noise affirmation' in those decisions.

Nah, I’m done. If you want my money next year, it’ll be on the back of your response to this s***. I can’t remember a worse time in football, just don’t remember any other time when footy was so s***. Well at least we can hang our hat on having female umpires. Yes, in 50 years when our grandchildren go to a museum and they ask, what happened to the best game ever?, they will be told, dunno, people just stopped watching, but they had wonderful umpires dressed like the players. What s*** is that? They are just officials, why the indigenous clothing? They are irrelevant and should just make decisions, even if it’s just one sided like it is. f*** me

Anyone know what the free kicks for and against the Eagles over there for this season? The umpires are bloody sh#t scared to give anything against them.

Free kick differential in last 4 games against the Eagles - +56 - their way, of course.
A lot of ours were missed last night, as were a lot of our marks. Over to you Richo and Summers.

Re: 25-11 "The Noise Of Affirmation" Raise this with Gill Richo.
I posted this in July 2016. Nothing has changed.
In the last ten years West Coast Eagles :
First or second in 'Free Kicks For" every year except one when they were fourth.
Last or second last in "Free Kicks Against" every year bar one. The least free kicks against an astonishing six times in ten years. What are the odds in an 18 team competition?
And those stats are for all games. Imagine how it looks if you only take their home games into account.
This from the Hun last year :
"The Eagles have won a staggering 349 more free kicks than they have conceded in the past five years — a differential three times bigger than their nearest rival.
But it’s at Subiaco, at the aptly nicknamed “House of Pain”, where West Coast gets the biggest advantage from whistleblowers.
Since the start of 2011, the Eagles have lost the free kick count in only four of 46 matches on home soil against interstate sides — a success rate of 91 per cent.
Incredibly, West Coast is also one of only two clubs to win more free kicks than it loses on the road, where it boasts a +63 free kick differential."
The umpires boss at the time, Wayne Campbell when asked about it said,
“The answer is, I don’t know. There’s just got to be a combination of things. Perhaps it’s the style of play, the crowd, winning games or that home sides win more than they lose. They must be disciplined in either not giving away free kicks or getting free kicks because it happens away from home as well.”
That's it Wayne. They're disciplined. Nothing to do with the umpires being intimidated by the crowd.
No way there's a massive issue with the bias towards WCE at home. Move along. Nothing to see. Jaysus.....look at these stats.
Free kick differential stats for 2011 - 2015 :
West Coast Eagles +349
Carlton +112
Port Adelaide +107
North Melbourne +76
Adelaide Crows +48
Richmond +37
Collingwood +17
Western Bulldogs-8
Geelong Cats -23
GWS Giants -25
Sydney Swans -26
Hawthorn-35
Fremantle-56
Essendon-64
Melbourne -83
Gold Coast Suns -106
St Kilda -137
Brisbane Lions -183
