McGovern's manager visits RSEA Park

Post: # 1731157Post WellardSaint »

Don't get excited;
Lin Jong from the Doggies, took a tour of The Filth's training centre, but decided to stay at the Kennel.

But CH 7 news, prob at RSEA Park for the Carlisle travesty,
spotted a grey-haired guy who they ID'd as Jeremy McGovern's manager,
leaving the complex, talking with some Saints folk in suits
(not the Meghan Markle TV show)

Should we really be paying $7M for another tall defender..?

Parkey is the kind of bloke who is so thick he actually thinks people believe his constant bulls***.
Too thick to realise that everyone knows you are a bullshitter.
Yet you keep going on with your 'whispers' like you are smarter than everyone else and as though anyone actually believes your crap.

The sign of a true moron.

Too thick to realise how thick they actually are.

Just stop ruining threads and spoling it for everyone else on here. This is a genuine thread about McGovern and being a FA. Why spoil it with rubbish? Go away.

I would be more worried if the Eagles wanted Acres in the deal.

Acres is managed by the same manager. We would be mad to let him go. From all accounts he is happy in Melbourne and is signed up long term.

Not sure if this guy manages anyone else at the Saints or other players we might be chasing that he manages too. Hmm...

Perhaps he was hitting the Pokies? Who cares, we're not short on key defenders and Carlisle can handle intercept marks along with the best of them.

Does his manager also represent any elite or potentially elite MIDFIELDERS? Because that's all we need to be interested in.

Yep, but just imagine if Carlise and McGovern were in the same backline along with Webster, Rice, Robbo, Geary, etc. There is nothing wrong with upgrading on what you have. He will only cost us money, not draft picks and players.

We can then use our 1st rd picks (this year and next) to get an established mid from another side if we miss out on Gaff for example. But we could still get Gaff, like McGovern for just $.

All hopeful thinking, but still possible. We have to have a crack at it all this nonetheless. We have tons of spare $ in the cap and it seems Lethlean is onto it. Bravo to the club for at least getting on the front foot.

Put it this way, if we had McGovern in our team last week, the result probably would have been similar. On the other hand if we had someone like Nat Fyfe in our midfield, we probably would have won the game.

We'd be paying a fortune for a type of player we don't really need, meaning we then couldn't spend it on the type of player we do need.

This is why the meltdown of our supporters and the "just do something" attitude worries me. Considering McGovern smells like trying to land a big fish for the sake of landing a big fish. If we cannot get the midfielder we need, then I'd prefer that we sat on our 'warchest' for another year.

If McGovern played v Richmond we win its that simple.

How many goals did Richmond get with long bombs deep that we were either outmarked or the ball fell over the back. McGovern would at least have marked a few killed the others.

One thing you can say about Colin Young is his clients seem to move clubs on big deals and when they make a decision they commit.

Examples: Cam McCarthy - spent a year or close to it in exile to get to the Dockers.
O'Meara move to Hawthorn, when Hawks couldn't satisfy GCS I recall him stating they would not speak to any other club. He also somehow got Collingwood to cough up $500K per season for Chris Mayne.

I agree we need mids more than another key back but we are not overloaded with A grade talent so making a play for someone who is A grade and RFA as opposed to giving up picks gets the thumbs up here.

The club has commented on a war chest for sometime so lets start with McGovern.
There is nothing like an A-grader getting on board to get other interested.
McGovern says to his mate Gaff let's go to the Saints together.

Yes I know, it doesn't hurt to dream!

We need mids yes but there's so much cap just get whoever we can that is a star.

McGovern comes this year. Makes it more exciting for star mids the next year.

So so hard to get anyone these days, especially when third last.

Is there a place you can look at to see what players are paid? "He also somehow got Collingwood to cough up $500K per season for Chris Mayne." Just wondering how someone knows what Mayne is paid. IMHO hes not worth half of that.

Exactly. I'll keep our only decent big bodied mid and someone else can go pay $7M for an intercept marking non-defender. I'd rather spend that cash on an outside mid (or two) that can regularly break lines and hit targets but foot.
