Re: Billings
billings is s*** because he's an outside player on a s*** team. I've noticed he has big games when we play crap teams and when there is hardly an pressure
put him in hawthorn and he'll probably thrive.
This physical, tackling, manic pressure game play at the saints just does not suit his game at all

Re: Billings
He’s a talented winger who is like icing on the cake.
Just s*** coaching has meant he’s a hesitant footballer who runs to the wrong spots now.
Look at this video of his early goals and whether he’s within a cooee of doing the same given a similar opportunity.

Re: Billings
I still believe the Bont would have been a better get. I understand they are two different types of players but he has made far more of an impact than Billings who i think still plays footy the way he did at TAC. Too cute.

Dal Santo actually begged the Saints to draft the Bont.
As usual our recruiting guys knew better.....

So far Dal's call is in front. But both their careers have a long way to run before we'll know for sure one way or the other.saynta wrote:oldie60 wrote:I still believe the Bont would have been a better get. However, the Poodles have said that they'd have taken Billings ahead of Bontempelli.

Not sure why Billings was not dropped 3 weeks ago.St Chris wrote:Billings and Gresham are the cream, not the engine room.
Their ability to impact the result will always be affected by what’s happening up the ground.
Is cream softer than butter? Billings certainly is!
Unfortunately the coaches have really made a mess here with a kid that showed so much potential.
How do you fix the cream once it's separated and curdled?
Gresh also needs a spell. When will Richo make a statement and drop them both?

Totally agree.
Billings was the real disappointment again today. His softness and lack of ability to contest cost us 2 to 3 goals at critical stages of the game. He has zero physical presence and in one play when there was the possibility he might get crunched, he moved off the line of the ball! Looks as if he plays scared and as others here have said, is like a boy playing a man's game. Been on the list fpr 5 years now and Coffield in his first season showed so much more upside today. Billings needs to be dropped and I can't see him making it. Many around us today said the same thing.

Patrick Cripps is also miles ahead of him from that 2013 draft and he was pick 13.
Yes but its not his fault he was selected as pick 3. Its was like letting Bontempelli slip through. Cripps was well known at East Perth and Geraldton as a manic inside player. We had only recruited small players and left the tall mids selection to other clubs. Not Billing fault.
WHERE IS OUR RECRUITMENT?
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Re: Billings
He has to go for a run at Sandringham surely.
Is it me or did he really squib it when he dropped that mark?
You all know the one I am talking about.

Dunno. You are assuming Richo and the selectors know what they’re doing. Broad assumption.bigred wrote:He has to go for a run at Sandringham surely.

Re: Billings
Yes he did squib. Is the Essendon offer still on the table. Shame we couldn't swap him for Stewart Calamari, but that dish was a take away. Billings must be embarrassed about today, poor guy - wasn't made for contact sports all floppy fins and ink squirts.

Sure did squib. Looked pretty bad and sums up the player he is or has become.

So far? Bont is better. So much so in fact that you can say with high certainty that he always will be.
A flag, a best and fairest and their next and current stand in captain. Easily.

Re: Billings
Billings looks a broken young man.
Don't know what has happened to this talented young player.
Seems a change of scenery is what is needed to reignite his career.
Look at Shaun Higgins at Bulldogs.
High end talent but soft in AFL terms and looked like he'd never fulfill his potential.
Moves to North and is now playing consistently at A grade level and with confidence has become a much tougher player.

Re: Billings
I agree. Our recruitment staff are to blame totally. Been saying that all along and are the reason our list is where it is today, after getting it so wrong in successive drafts. No accountability and it's like they're playing these guys week in week out in the hope they come good and save some face. Unfortunately though, Billings is stuck with the touted No. 3 and McCartin the No. 1 and they can't avoid the constant spotlight on them.kalsaint wrote:saintkid wrote:We've also said it too. Re: Billings
At least Billings has finally solved his goal kicking problem.
He just has to kick on his right foot!

Re: Billings
I could not agree with this more. He would be perfect off the half back flank spotting up targets. Get rid of Savage, he is ok but Billings would be an upgrade. Would also do his confidence the world of good to get a few cheap kicks rather than having the ball kicked on his head all day.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sun 08 Apr 2018 7:46pm Play him off half back.
Surely his decision making and delivery will surpass that of Webster and Newnes!
