Re: Richo has lost the players
Our next few matches look horrific with the next realistic chance for a win against Gold Coast in mid-June - and it’s up there. God the pressure is just going to go through the roof.
Can’t see him surviving the season he we only rack up 4 or 5 wins and getting 18,000 people to our home games.
And how could we attract any decent players if they think they’ll have to play our brand of footy for the next few years.

Prick started losing the group through 2016.congorozides wrote:LOLbigred wrote:I don't think he has lost the group.
Our % is is the lowest in the AFL. 69.4
We were older and more experienced than both Melbourne and Freo.
Just LOL.

Re: Richo has lost the players
I wonder what Richo said to the players at half time. Freo are not worthy of smashing us and there was something really wrong with the way we were playing up until half time
It'd be interesting to see if he actually inspired the players and drove the change, or if he struck a bit of fear into the group.
Was it positive and encouraging or did he tell them to lift or else?

5 years with a win % of 35 and a % of 69 IS EVIDENCE ENOUGH.
We are horrendous and the coach is awful.

Re: Richo has lost the players
Are you kidding me? Richo hasn't lost the players. The players love Richo. They can play like total sh!te and still get a game, they can fail, fumble and falter and be given contract extensions.
Things have NEVER been more secure and better for Saints players.
Come join StKilda Saints, the only job in the world ( besides TV weather person) that can be wrong every day for and still get a gig!!!

Is it our recruiting that is crap or is it our development. Other clubs seem to find diamonds in the rough, we tend to turn highly touted players into deers I'm front of headlights.bigred wrote:s*** group.

Don't buy it or they wouldnt have come back in the 3rd qtr. Worsfold has lost players you can see by lack of effort. We have effort we dont have skill or mental toughness under pressure

Re: Richo has lost the players
Maybe Richo hasn’t lost the players - it’s more that the players can’t find each other, under any sort of pressure.
Our recruiters need to recruit players with skills - skills that hold up under pressure. They haven’t done this over the years.

It is player development that is our problem! Has been for ages.
Lynch, Cripps, and Hutchings are all good players in their teams...why not with us? We de-listed Hutchings!
We need to align our VFL relationship better than we have. Either by having a stand alone team or taking total control over one (like Hawthorn and Box Hill). Until we do that, we will continue to suffer.
You think that it's a coincidence that since 2001 all but a few premierships have been won by teams with either their own state level team or total control of one?
The Bulldogs won a flag after getting a stand alone team...as did the Tigers.
The longer we wait, the further behind we go.

Re: Richo has lost the players
Lynch had obvious skills and we let him go. We need to persevere with players that have skills. We don’t seem to value skilfull players.
We don’t recruit them and we don’t go out of our way to hold on to them.
You are what you recruit. Full stop.

Re: Richo has lost the players
He went down to bench in the hope of finding some of them.
When the players fail to put in maximum effort they need to know the coach is waiting to eye ball them when they go to the bench.
It made a difference in the third quarter.
50% effort improved to 60%.
Let someone else stuff up the strategy from the box.

Re: Richo has lost the players
What we need if we’re going to emulate Hawthorn and Geelong is recruiting standards.
If players don’t tick the boxes, you don’t recruit them.
We need quality control in recruiting - set some criteria/standards, that we religiously adhere to.
When you hear us say : “ I can’t believe this player slid to us” know that other teams have overlooked this player for good reasons - as they didn’t meet their quality control standards.

Re: Richo has lost the players
Development is important but it needs to follow good recruiting. You need a rough diamond to polish - it needs to be a diamond (not a piece of coal).prwilkinson wrote:Who is our development coach?
Quality recruiting is no. 1 in rank of importance. Lax recruiting standards = St Kilda ( the team we’ve ended up as).

I agree that the club needs to be under the microscope but I’m not so sure a witch hunt through the media will be a good thing. It usually results in knee jerk reactions and an implosion.Teflon wrote:I can't believe how light they're going we need the blow torchSpinner wrote:Worst thing is pressure still won't come on us.
