Alan 'fairy dust and unicorns' Richardson
Wow. The man oozes optimism and delusions of grandeur.
Reading his usual garbage and need to maximise our opportunities...
Tims hurting we're hurting..
He's having some issues with his set shots, there's no doubt about that..
No one works harder on their skill, his is marking and kicking and leading. He’s a real pro so that will turn.
Awesome observations Nostradamus.
And more..
"Sometimes I worry that I get the guys in a state that they care too much about outcome and result,"
Well, that is fairly important Alan. The result and all..
Let me continue with yet more amazing insight from our saviour..
"Not that I ever talk about that you’ve got to kick the goal but you know."
When you put it like that Alan. I never looked at the game as deeply as he does..
'The season’s not gone the way we want in terms of win-loss, that’s obvious.'
Again some real nuggets of wisdom Alan. No s***.
"Most clubs that I have been involved with and other clubs that I haven’t been involved with have periods where they don’t nail their opportunities."
And sometimes I win tasttslotto when I buy a ticket and sometimes when I don't buy a ticket I don't win, but I will turn that around. I know that..
Oh and this again
"So we will turn that around".
Yep. That old chestnut.
It's nearly over I promise..
"When we played the sort of footy that we prepared for, when we kick it too each other"
Yeah that kicking it to each other does really help Alan. Thanks for explaining the intricacies of our game..
"We only had one goal on the board at half-time but after that it was good to see the guys dug in and responded and became really aggressive at their footy."
Only one goal, but then the boys became really aggressive at their footy and lost by 30 points. Maybe they need to be aggressive at...hmm let's say the opponent. But we will turn it around won't we Alan?
Another little gem from this intellectual heavyweight
"That makes it frustrating that it wasn’t there when the game was up for grabs."
Yeah it is frustrating. I think that's the whole point of our game isn't it? We need to play good football at the start of the game in the hopes of creating a lead.
And finally some optimism for the future
"The fact that the guys responded was something we will take out of the game."
Well holy sh*t Alan. I just never thought of it like that.

The bad kicking for goal is his get out of jail excuse.
He can hide behind that as the press etc don't push for the real issues with coaching and the way we play.
Cop out of the highest order.

I think the St Kilda Football Club is the problem. Everyone has their heads firmly entrenched up their own arses.Living the dream wrote:Perhaps he isnt the problem.

At least our President has been vocal...

Get plugger back , offer a one year playing contract, give him 300k. Get him to put some weight back on that ridiculous frame he's currently sporting. He can be our onfield goal kickng coach, he's not even required to man up, or watch the game, he needs to focus on all the Jayson Daniels esque kicks we have in the side.sks023 wrote:Membrey was a good kick until d**khead dicko came to the club. Usually a good kick will make an error but if he has the same type of kick again will correct it and score the goal.
Membrey had 3 to 4 of the same type of shot and executed incorrectly the same way every time slicing it to the right.
It was as bad as I have ever seen.

It's worked for Ross Lyon in the past, but I guess Ross sold himself and sold the message better than our current blokeJoffa Burns wrote:The bad kicking for goal is his get out of jail excuse.

Re: Alan 'fairy dust and unicorns' Richardson
Saw an interview with Tom McDonald today on the Sunday Footy Show on 9 and Tom said that with goal kicking his coaches are telling him to focus on process and not worry at all about the outcomes. The players have enough to think about and enough pressure. Apart from all the complexities of game plan and zones etc.. There's some basic stuff that is a worry if Alan is even mentioning the word 'outcome' when it comes to goalkicking.
The fact that you bring in a specialist goal kicking coach tells your players that we have a problem. If they can't figure it out and if you can't help them to figure it out, then what the hell are you good for? Don't wait and hope. Kick them in the arse and give them a spell at Sandringham
Another thing that came out of the interview was that Melbourne's captain is coming back from injury through the VFL. Why didn't Alan do this for guys like Armo in the first 2 rounds? Why was Armo selected in front of Dunny? Why was Gresh and Billings not dropped after the North game? Why didn't Alan bring Member's back in through the VFL when he was coming off an injury? Very very poor decisions which are contributing to the players lack of confidence and contributing to our losses.
